Features & Highlights

Amazon Photos: Photo & Video is a robust application that offers a plethora of features designed to enhance your photo and video management experience. Here are some of the core highlights that make this app stand out:

  • Unlimited Photo Storage for Prime Members - If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can store an unlimited number of photos at no additional cost. This feature is a game-changer for anyone who loves capturing moments but is worried about running out of storage space. For instance, I recently returned from a family vacation and uploaded hundreds of photos without a second thought, knowing they would be securely stored.
  • Automatic Backup - The app allows for automatic backup of your photos and videos, ensuring that your memories are safe even if you lose your device. I set this feature up on my phone, and it has saved me from potential heartache when my phone was accidentally dropped in water. All my precious memories were backed up seamlessly.
  • Smart Search and Organization - Amazon Photos uses advanced AI to help you find your images quickly. You can search for photos by people, places, or even objects. I was amazed when I typed "beach" into the search bar and instantly found all my beach vacation photos from the past few years, making it easy to create a photo book for my family.
  • Sharing Options - The app makes it easy to share photos and albums with friends and family, even if they don’t have the app. I recently created a shared album for my wedding photos, allowing my guests to upload their pictures and relive the day together.
  • Video Storage and Editing - Not only does Amazon Photos support photo storage, but it also allows you to store and edit videos. I often capture short clips during family gatherings, and having a dedicated space to store and edit these videos has made it easier to compile highlights for my family to enjoy.

Real Experience Using "Amazon Photos: Photo & Video"

Application Scenarios

In my daily life, I find myself using Amazon Photos in various scenarios. For instance, during family gatherings, I often take numerous photos and videos. Instead of worrying about where to store them, I simply upload them to Amazon Photos right after the event. This way, I can share the best moments with family members who couldn’t attend. Additionally, I use the app to create themed albums for special occasions, like birthdays or vacations, which I can easily share with friends and family.

User Experience

The user interface of Amazon Photos is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. The workflow for uploading photos is straightforward; I can select multiple images at once, and the upload process is quick and efficient. I appreciate the organization features, as the app automatically sorts my photos by date and location, making it easy to find what I’m looking for. The performance has been stellar; I’ve never experienced lag or crashes, even when uploading large batches of photos. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel confident that my memories are safe and easily accessible.

Pricing

Amazon Photos is free for all Amazon Prime members, which is a fantastic perk for those already subscribed to the service. For non-Prime members, the app offers 5 GB of free storage, with additional storage options available for purchase. This pricing structure is reasonable, especially considering the unlimited photo storage for Prime users, making it a worthwhile investment for anyone who values their digital memories.

Updates & Support

Amazon regularly updates the app to enhance functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed improvements in the smart search feature and overall performance with each update. The support options are also commendable; I’ve reached out to customer service a couple of times with questions, and they were responsive and helpful. The FAQs section within the app is also a great resource for troubleshooting common issues.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to storing personal photos and videos. Amazon Photos is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for app distribution. When registering for the app, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my email address and Amazon account details. However, I appreciate that Amazon has a robust privacy policy in place, detailing how my data is used and protected.

Importantly, the app does not bombard users with ads, which is a significant plus in my book. I also feel reassured knowing that Amazon employs encryption to protect my data both in transit and at rest. While there is some tracking behavior for improving user experience, I have the option to manage my privacy settings, allowing me to control what data is shared. Overall, I feel secure using Amazon Photos, knowing that my memories are protected and my privacy is respected.

I really love this app for saving pictures - especially with all the negative changes going on in other apps (Pin). I love the ability to create groups and the ease in saving pics. Occasionally my app kind of glitches but if I restart my phone it resets and works perfectly. I do wish I could reorganize the order of my groups, rather than just being by date created, but otherwise I'm super happy with this!

I like this app, it is my favorite storage site, but it's only 4 stars as it is not great to navigate. I have several decades stored here. It's a repository backup, but wish I could get all the phone pics it stores to be as organized as my hard drive. When you have thousands& thousands, the slider gets tiny and hard to manipulate. so does everybody else's. If I know the time close enough, I just search for the year, or month. I do like the ability to search for faces tho.

While it's a nice backup so I don't lose photos, there is no way to upload directly into separate folders from my phone folders. Such a basic organizing feature I am dumbfounded it's missing. Makes the app useless as a primary storage without major work organizing into albums manually and then doing it again and again for every upload. So disappointing. I will need to find another storage solution.

    1. Doesn't allow me to see all of the albums on my phone (maybe a quarter of them). I sort all of my photos and have all the images I wanted printed in a separate album - which doesn't show up. And 2. when I click the option to go to Amazon prints, it asks me if I want to go to Shutterfly (... why wouldn't I just open that if that's what I wanted?) or Amazon printing (the entire reason I downloaded this app), but when I click the 2nd option it just sits and loads... and never opens anything. 0/5

Bad design or buggy. It often doesn't recognize I have new photos to backup. I have to click on "View Uploads" -> 3 dots on upper right -> Upload Settings -> Device folders to Auto-Save, then click back to trigger it to rescan the Camera folder for new file. Simply just opening and closing the file won't work. Tried that multiple times. Side note: on amazon photos website, you can't just go there and view photo like Google photo. You have to click Sign in again every single time.
