4.7 Betterment Invest & Save Money is a powerful financial tool that simplifies investing and saving for users of all experience levels. Here are some of its standout features:
As someone who juggles a busy work schedule and family commitments, I often find it challenging to stay on top of my finances. Betterment has become my go-to app for managing my investments and savings. For example, during my lunch breaks, I can quickly check my portfolio performance and make adjustments if necessary. On weekends, I sit down with my partner to review our financial goals, and we use the app to track our progress toward our dream vacation. The ability to set and monitor specific goals has made our financial discussions more productive and focused.
The user interface of Betterment is sleek and intuitive, making it easy for anyone to navigate. When I first opened the app, I was greeted with a clean dashboard that displayed my investment performance at a glance. The workflow for setting up my account was straightforward, and I appreciated the step-by-step guidance provided throughout the process. The app's performance has been stellar; it loads quickly, and I have never experienced any lag while using it. Overall, my feelings after using Betterment have been overwhelmingly positive. It feels like I have a personal financial advisor in my pocket, guiding me toward my financial goals.
Betterment operates on a transparent pricing model, charging a management fee of 0.25% annually for its digital plan. This fee is quite competitive compared to traditional financial advisors, and I appreciate that there are no hidden fees or commissions. For those looking for more personalized advice, Betterment also offers a premium plan at 0.40%, which includes access to certified financial planners. I find this pricing structure to be fair, especially considering the value I receive from the app.
Betterment is committed to providing excellent customer support and regularly updates its app to enhance user experience. I’ve reached out to their support team a couple of times with questions, and each time, I received prompt and helpful responses. The app also frequently rolls out updates that introduce new features or improve existing ones, which shows their dedication to keeping the platform fresh and user-friendly. I feel confident knowing that Betterment is continuously working to improve its services.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to financial apps. Betterment is available on both the App Store and Google Play, and it has received positive reviews for its security measures. During the registration process, I was required to provide personal information, including my Social Security number and bank account details, which is standard for financial services. However, I felt reassured knowing that Betterment uses bank-level encryption to protect my data.
Additionally, Betterment does not engage in intrusive ads or tracking behavior that compromises user privacy. I appreciate that they focus on providing a seamless user experience without bombarding me with advertisements. Overall, I feel secure using Betterment, knowing that my financial information is protected and that my privacy is respected.

UPADATE 5/18/2026: Moved our investment money to this investment application/platform. For months, everything seemed to go well till I tried to open one of their checking accounts and add my wife on with me. That's when we ran into problems! Verification was denied, but there was no reason given, so I gave up. No, one ever contacted me to help with the issues as they stated they would in the reply!

Good app for investing and has one of the highest APY around for savings accounts. Also worth mentioning is the ATM fee reimbursement (which also applies to ATMs overseas). A few things could be better: they don't allow for automatic bill payments from savings account and you can't set up recurring transfers from savings to checking, which means you have to make sure you transfer money into checking before a bill goes through. Those are standard features on competing apps.

App is so confusing. The layout is cluttered and disorganized. Not to mention the difficulty in transferring funds between your checking and Cash Reserve accounts. You can transfer money to the other account by going to either account, and selecting "transfer". You can also go to that account and there's a "deposit" option, which does the same thing. So... 3 ways to do the same task. But only for certain tasks. Otherwise the app is stable and works as designed. The design just needs tweaking.

I love the Betterment App and platform. So easy to use, and it's great for those that want to invest, but don't want to do all the work themselves. Comes with a fee, but returns outweighs it over time. My only gripe with it is that money you put in the Cash Reserve (Savings) takes forever to withdraw. Especially if you're planning on taking out a large amount. It'll take a whole week before you get your money. PayPal savings has similar rates, and withdrawals in half the time Betterment does.

I recently had my account suspended for suspicious activity. As it turns out, it was because the Yotta account I have, I can't transfer into taxable accounts (only 1 checking account I sync up). So I called customer service explained the situation, and got my account unlocked. Their email system is good too. While they don't give direct advice, they will link a page that has more info on the topic that does have suggestions with certain situations. They make it easy to Set it & forget it too.
