Features & Highlights

John GBA is a powerful Game Boy Advance emulator that brings nostalgia to life for gamers of all ages. With its user-friendly interface and robust features, it allows you to relive your favorite childhood games on your mobile device. Here are some of the standout features that make John GBA a must-have for retro gaming enthusiasts:

  • High Compatibility: John GBA supports a wide range of Game Boy Advance titles, ensuring that you can play almost any game you desire. For instance, I was able to seamlessly load and play classics like "The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap" without any glitches, making my gaming experience truly enjoyable.
  • Customizable Controls: The app allows you to customize your control layout, which is a game-changer for mobile gaming. I often adjust the button sizes and positions to suit my preferences, especially when playing fast-paced games like "Metroid Fusion," where quick reflexes are essential.
  • Save States: One of the most convenient features is the ability to create save states at any point in the game. This feature saved me countless hours when I was stuck on a challenging boss in "Pokémon FireRed." I could easily save my progress and return to it later without losing any hard-earned achievements.
  • Fast Forward Option: The fast forward feature allows you to speed through sections of the game that you may find tedious. I often use this when replaying "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance" to skip through dialogue and cutscenes, making my playthroughs much more efficient.
  • Cheat Code Support: For those who love to experiment, John GBA supports cheat codes, allowing you to unlock hidden features or gain advantages in your games. I recently used a cheat code to access all characters in "Mario Kart: Super Circuit," which added a new layer of fun to my gaming sessions.

Pretty okay. It runs games on my phone well for the most part, but for whatever reason, specifically BK Grunty's Revenge is so visually destroyed it is essentially unplayable. I checked, its not an issue with the ROM, it seems to be related to the emulator. Rest of the app is still fine though, if you aren't looking to get this for that one game its a 4, that game is just half the reason I bought this.

Love it, if they had a way to connect to other phones using the emulator to simulate a Link Cable, that would be incredible! Also, it would be neat to have an option to disable the top left save state button. It's a bad habit to develop when you want to play Fire Emblem the way it was intended 😅 (won't deny that it saves time tho). Other than that, money well spent.

Had this for a while, PAID for it (totally worth it). But, lately, the software has hard locked me out telling me that it has no license and I need to buy it from the app store... The link takes me to this page that says that I already bought it and has the "play" button. FULL stars if it still worked, best out there. Glad I waited till now to review, might update when this gets fixed. _-_-_-_ Well, the issue fixed itself after being connected to the internet somehow. I needed it offline!

It's a good and reliable emulator for when you're bored or on the go. No ads, you get what you pay for but I have noticed at least on my phone, if you set it to automatic landscape mode and try to boot it up it will just crash and not start, forcing you to have to reinstall and reset everything. If that was fixed it would easily be 5 stars

I love this emulator. I've always had the free verison but finally upgraded. It's easy to load games, and everything runs smoothly. The only complaint I have is when playing with the on-screen controller, it is hard to diagonally move. I see now from other reviews I can easily use another controller via Bluetooth and I will try that to avoid this issue when playing games that require that type of movement, but I would love to see a custom button on screen for this also.
