4.0 JPay is a unique app designed to bridge the communication gap between incarcerated individuals and their loved ones. With its user-friendly interface and a variety of features, JPay makes it easier to stay connected. Here are some of the core features that stand out:
Using the JPay app has become a part of my daily routine. I often find myself reaching for my phone during lunch breaks to send a quick message to my brother. The convenience of being able to communicate with him anytime is invaluable. On weekends, I usually set aside some time to do a video visit. It’s a ritual that not only helps us stay connected but also gives him a sense of normalcy. Additionally, I use the app to send him money for his commissary needs, ensuring he has access to essentials and treats. The ability to share photos has also added a personal touch to our communication, allowing him to feel included in family events.
The user interface of JPay is straightforward and intuitive. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation easy. Sending messages is a breeze; I simply select my brother’s profile, type my message, and hit send. The response time is generally quick, which is a pleasant surprise. Video visits are equally seamless; I appreciate the clear instructions provided for setting up a call. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly without any significant lag, which is crucial during video calls. Overall, my experience with JPay has been positive. It feels like a lifeline, allowing me to maintain a strong connection with my brother despite the physical barriers.
JPay operates on a pay-per-use model, which means that while the app itself is free to download, certain features come with fees. For instance, sending messages incurs a small cost, and video visits are charged by the minute. I find the pricing to be reasonable, especially considering the emotional value of staying connected with my brother. The money transfer fees are also manageable, making it easy to support him financially without breaking the bank.
JPay regularly updates its app to improve functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed enhancements in the messaging feature and video quality over time, which shows their commitment to user satisfaction. Customer support is readily available through the app, and I’ve had to reach out a couple of times for assistance. Each time, I received prompt and helpful responses, which reassured me that they value their users and are dedicated to resolving any issues.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using apps like JPay. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During registration, I was required to provide personal information, including my name, email, and phone number. While this is standard practice, I appreciated the transparency regarding how my data would be used. JPay does not bombard users with ads, which is a relief, and I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior. Overall, I feel secure using the app, knowing that my personal information is handled with care and that my communications with my brother are kept private.

TERRIBLE!! It let me go through all the steps of creating an account and filling in EVERY blank, just to tell me "you can't have 'none' for a category, which wasn't even possible!! Then it got even worse when I reported the problem I got an email back saying if the issue is with my account I'll need to take it up with jpay directly!! The issue was never fixed and I can't send my family money for their needs!!!!!!!

I wrote a long heart felt email to my good friend in confinement and saved it indraft but when I went to finish the letter it was GONE! 😰 I also sent an email to him, but he said he never received it. I purchased stamps on my account a while ago, I when tried to send a email, the app stated I needed to purchase more, that isn't be right! This app is cheap, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! Writing a letter and mailing it would be more reliable!😠

I've been using this app (unfortunately) for awhile now. At first it was great! Now, not so much. The past few months my email notifications have been delayed. I'll have a message but the email saying I have one won't come in for hours, sometimes days at a time. I haven't gotten an actual notification of a message from the app since sometime early/mid last year. The messages now are taking FOREVER to come thru. Now, it's not letting me send any pictures!!!!

I like the app because it is an alternative way for me to stay in touch with my husband, but that's only when it works properly (which is only 40% of the time on this phone). I'm constantly getting error messages. For instance, while in the Snap 'n' Send mode, it won't let me take a picture and send it to him. It always bumps me outta the JPay app, then pops up with an error/dispute form for me to fill out. I get tired of filling it out for nothing to get done. PLEASE IMPROVE THE APP!!!

Not worth what they charge, as most messages take days to receive and site is down too often. (I am fully aware some messages can be flagged... but even the non flagged can take days) ***Edit- 2/23/20; mobile app quit working, so I uninstalled the app AND have tried to reinstall it BUT it won't download. I have emailed support and of course, NO REPLY!!
