4.3 The NETGEAR Orbi is not just a router; it’s a comprehensive solution for anyone looking to enhance their home or office Wi-Fi experience. With its robust features, it stands out in the crowded market of networking devices. Here are some of the core features that make the Orbi a must-have:
As a remote worker, my home is my office, and having a reliable internet connection is crucial. I use the NETGEAR Orbi daily for video conferencing, streaming, and downloading large files. One of my favorite scenarios is when I have a virtual meeting scheduled. I can confidently connect my laptop to the Orbi network, knowing that the tri-band technology will keep my connection stable, even if my partner is streaming a show in the next room. Additionally, during weekends, I often host game nights with friends online, and the Orbi’s guest network feature allows me to provide them with internet access without compromising my personal network security.
The user interface of the NETGEAR Orbi app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean dashboard that displays my network status, connected devices, and any alerts. Navigating through the various features is seamless; I can easily adjust settings, monitor bandwidth usage, and manage parental controls with just a few taps. The performance of the Orbi has been stellar; I’ve noticed a significant improvement in speed and coverage compared to my previous router. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel empowered to manage my home network effectively.
The NETGEAR Orbi is competitively priced, especially considering the features it offers. Depending on the model and the number of satellites included, prices can range from around $150 to $400. While it may seem like a significant investment upfront, the performance and reliability it provides make it worth every penny. Plus, the long-term savings on potential internet issues and the convenience of having a robust network at home are invaluable.
NETGEAR provides regular updates for the Orbi, ensuring that users benefit from the latest features and security enhancements. The support team is responsive and helpful, with various resources available, including a comprehensive FAQ section and community forums. I’ve reached out for assistance once, and the support staff was quick to resolve my issue, which further solidified my trust in the brand.
When it comes to security and privacy, the NETGEAR Orbi takes several measures to protect its users. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it can be easily accessed by a wide range of users. During the registration process, I was required to provide minimal personal data, which is a plus for privacy-conscious individuals. The app does not bombard users with ads, and I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior, which is a significant concern for many American users today. Overall, I feel secure using the NETGEAR Orbi, knowing that my data is protected and that I have control over my network settings.

The router system is very good and reliable. However, the app has been very buggy, specifically in relation to SPC. I sometimes have trouble moving devices between groups. And almost daily, some devices get stuck in a blocked mode even though SPC says they should be on, requiring a router reboot. I have factory reset the router but did not help

Now I can't sign in at all. "Something went wrong. Try again." Successfully reset password, but same problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Don't use the app very often, so don't know when this started, but was happening about a month ago and is still happening (didn't try in between because was hoping it would be fixed by an app update). Even better than fixing signin would be: don't make me sign into a mobile app at all. Let me just sign into the router, like previous Netgear routers did.

Just "OK" mesh system. We have 2 Orbi systems set up to accomodate over 50 wifi devices. Overall the systems work well, but they are not really set up to handle high device load. They also need to be woken up sometimes which can delay or prevent a smart device from being on line. Regardless, generally they work well and are fast. When we make a change, it will be to a more robust mesh system that can handle double the amount of wifi devices we have now just to ensure enough growth capacity

They changed and removed my router! Now my router cannot be connected to and managed! Why would you do an app change that simply screw up your existing customers. I see this is common theme but they are not doing anything about it. I will wait a bit and throw Orbi away if they don't fix the app connectivity issue. They broke something that worked perfectly....!

Generally gets the job done. Couple annoyances: 1) Does not use Notification Categories and sends lots of notifications per day, almost completely "no problem" messages. I see myself getting sick of this and turning off notifications. Then I'll miss important notifications. Ugh! An option for a daily summary would be good. 2) App would not let me upgrade to premium so I would have VPN for foreign travel. Spent 45 minutes on support chat, and they couldn't get it to show me an upgrade link. Lame.
