4.4 As someone who enjoys outdoor activities, I frequently rely on Precip to keep me informed about the weather. Just last week, I planned a picnic with friends at a local park. Before heading out, I checked Precip to see if the forecast had changed. The app indicated a slight chance of rain in the afternoon, so I decided to pack an umbrella just in case. Sure enough, the rain held off until we were safely back home, thanks to the app's accurate predictions.
Another scenario where Precip shines is during my daily commute. Living in a city where sudden downpours are common, I set up notifications for rain alerts. One morning, I received a notification about an unexpected rain shower just as I was about to leave for work. I grabbed my raincoat and avoided getting soaked, all thanks to the timely alert from Precip.
The user interface of Precip is sleek and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through various features. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean dashboard that displays the current weather conditions, hourly forecasts, and a 7-day outlook. The layout is intuitive, allowing me to quickly access radar maps and notifications without any hassle.
In terms of performance, Precip runs smoothly without any lag, even when switching between different features. The interactive radar maps are particularly impressive, providing a clear visual representation of precipitation patterns. I appreciate how the app allows me to zoom in on my specific location, giving me a detailed view of what to expect in my area.
Overall, my experience with Precip has been overwhelmingly positive. The app not only keeps me informed but also enhances my ability to plan my day around the weather. I feel more prepared and less anxious about unexpected weather changes, which is a huge plus for someone who spends a lot of time outdoors.
Precip offers a free version that includes essential features, which is perfect for casual users. However, for those who want to unlock premium features like advanced radar maps and ad-free browsing, there is a subscription option available. The pricing is reasonable, and I found the premium features to be worth the investment, especially during unpredictable weather seasons.
The developers of Precip are proactive in providing updates, ensuring that the app remains relevant and functional. I’ve noticed several improvements since I first downloaded it, including enhanced radar accuracy and new customization options. Additionally, customer support is responsive; I reached out with a question about a feature, and I received a helpful reply within a day. This level of support gives me confidence in the app's reliability.
As an American user, I take security and privacy seriously, and Precip does a commendable job in this regard. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was only required to provide minimal personal information, which I appreciated. This approach minimizes the risk of data breaches and keeps my information secure.
Moreover, Precip does not bombard users with ads, which is a significant plus for me. I’ve noticed that the app does not engage in excessive tracking behavior, respecting user privacy while still providing personalized weather updates. Overall, I feel comfortable using Precip, knowing that my data is handled responsibly and securely.

my rating is for the non-premium, basic app functions. I tool I thought would solve many of my rain tracking needs, but instead locks the great stuff behind a premium, and the rest of the good stuff behind registering a free account for data collection. No thanks. Therefore, only use this app has that I can't find for free anywhere else (not that I've looked everywhere) is the 12 hour rain map filter. Guess I'll have to keep looking.

This used to be a great app. But since some updates and changes it isn't really useful any longer. You give it a location and it doesn't seem to keep it, because every time I open it, it changes. I can open it and it will say we had 1.5 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. Close it and re open it and it will give me a completely different amount??? Once you open the app, you can close it because with one of the updates the button to close it went away??

The interface is awesome. Seems to function ok but I need more time to check for accuracy. There is one major hurdle here. THE PRICE! Holy cow! The jump from the free version to the lowest "Solo" version is painfully outrageous. Make an affordable level and you might see some money from me.

I'm not terriblely impressed. Granted, I only checked out the free version. I can obtain all of the information elsewhere for free anyway. I just thought a single app would be more convenient. It wasn't. Plus, I was often asked to upgrade to the paid version. Irritating. Also, in the free version, you are, apparently, only allowed to access the information a limited number of times during an unspecified time frame. I'm uninstalling it as soon as I put a period at the end of this sentence.

I understand having a paywall. But having a limited number of times you can check a locations weather for the day is absurd. GOOGLE doesn't even charge for that. There are so many better free apps that are completely free out there. The only good thing is you can choose to have your account and data easily deleted from within the app itself.
