4.5 As someone who relies heavily on a stable internet connection for both work and leisure, I find myself using Speedtest by Ookla in various scenarios throughout my day. For instance, during my morning routine, I often check my internet speed to ensure that my connection is strong enough for video conferencing. On weekends, when I’m streaming my favorite shows, I use the app to troubleshoot any buffering issues that arise. Additionally, when I travel, I make it a point to test the Wi-Fi in hotels or cafes to gauge whether it’s suitable for my needs, especially if I have important work to complete.
The user interface of Speedtest by Ookla is incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a large “Go” button that invites me to start the speed test immediately. The workflow is seamless; within seconds, I receive my results displayed in a clean and easy-to-read format. The app’s performance is impressive, with tests completing quickly and accurately. I appreciate the visual representation of my download and upload speeds, as well as the ping time, which helps me understand my connection quality at a glance. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive, as it provides the information I need without any unnecessary complications.
Speedtest by Ookla is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for users looking for a reliable internet speed testing tool without any financial commitment. While there is a premium version available that offers additional features, the free version is more than sufficient for most users. I’ve found that the app’s capabilities meet all my needs without requiring any upgrades.
The developers of Speedtest by Ookla are committed to providing regular updates, ensuring that the app remains compatible with the latest devices and operating systems. I’ve noticed improvements in speed and accuracy with each update, which speaks to their dedication to user experience. Additionally, customer support is readily available through their website, where I found helpful FAQs and troubleshooting tips when I had questions about the app’s functionality.
As an American user, I take security and privacy seriously, especially when using apps that require internet connectivity. Speedtest by Ookla is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of trust as these platforms vet applications for security. The app does not require extensive personal data for registration; in fact, I was able to use it without creating an account, which is a significant plus for privacy-conscious users.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, I’ve noticed that Speedtest by Ookla does not bombard users with intrusive advertisements, which enhances the overall experience. While the app may collect some data to improve its services, it is transparent about its data usage policies, allowing users to make informed decisions about their privacy. Overall, I feel secure using Speedtest by Ookla, knowing that my personal information is not being exploited.

Changed from 5 stars to 2. Now with pop up ads, it falls far behind the free competition. "All new design and user experience" translates to "Now with far more aggressive monetization!" You can pay for no ads, which is great, but there are plenty of alternatives that don't require this. I am all for paying to remove ads in most cases, but the fact that this is such a simple app with so many alternatives means it's just not worth it.

I've been using Speedtest for several years now , among others out there , and have made quite a few comparisons and I've found it to be the most reliable and accurate Wifi testing app out. I've always only used the free version from the PlayStore and never paid a dime and have had zero issues with it. Check it out, I've even seen installation techs using it, in fact that's how I found out about it. Good work , Guys. 👍

It has ads but they have to get money somehow and either way, they dont really bother or get in the way of the speed test. I have been using this app for years now measuring my speeds and it has the availability of different servers in different locations. It's really not bad, I trust this app more than open signal and any other 3rd party speed test. The UI is pretty sleek too.

Was a functionally great app, but with the latest version, it started running in the background. I can't imagine any good reason why an app that I use only periodically has a need to run 24/7/365, but I can think of a number of bad reasons. I found another simple speed test that's free, with more functionality and has the added benefit of not needing services constantly running in the background.

I've been using this app for years and suddenly it's hogging all my data. I'm on a pre-paid plan so I keep track of my data use pretty well, noticed the app had used 2.5 GB and I was only a week into the month. I decided to test it toward the end of the month and one test used 600mb. I have no idea what they changed but I'm deleting it from all my devices.
