As a busy professional and a parent, I find myself relying on the TP-Link Tether app in various scenarios throughout my day. For instance, during the weekdays, I often work from home, and a stable internet connection is crucial for video calls and online meetings. The app allows me to monitor my network's performance in real-time, ensuring that I can quickly troubleshoot any issues that arise.
On weekends, I host family gatherings, and I use the app to set up a guest network for my relatives. This way, they can connect to the internet without needing my Wi-Fi password, keeping my main network secure. Additionally, I frequently check the app to manage my children's screen time, ensuring they aren't spending too much time online when they should be playing outside or doing homework.
The user interface of the TP-Link Tether app is intuitive and straightforward. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean dashboard that displays all my connected devices, making it easy to navigate. The workflow for managing devices is seamless; I can quickly tap on a device to view its details, block it, or set parental controls with just a few clicks.
Performance-wise, the app is responsive and rarely lags, even when I’m managing multiple devices. I appreciate the real-time notifications that alert me to any new devices connecting to my network, allowing me to maintain control over my home network. Overall, my experience with the TP-Link Tether app has been overwhelmingly positive, as it has simplified my network management tasks significantly.

This free access allows me to enjoy all the app's features without worrying about subscription costs.
TP-Link regularly updates the Tether app to enhance its functionality and security. I’ve noticed improvements in performance and new features added with each update, which keeps the app fresh and relevant. Additionally, TP-Link offers robust customer support through their website and community forums, where I can find answers to common questions or troubleshoot issues. This level of support gives me confidence in using their products.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that manages my home network. The TP-Link Tether app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. Upon downloading the app, I was required to create an account, which involved providing my email address. However, I appreciate that TP-Link does not ask for excessive personal information, which helps maintain my privacy.
In terms of ads or tracking behavior, I have not encountered any intrusive advertisements while using the app. It appears that TP-Link prioritizes user experience over monetization through ads, which is a refreshing change. Additionally, the app does not seem to engage in excessive tracking, allowing me to manage my network without feeling like my data is being exploited. Overall, I feel secure using the TP-Link Tether app, knowing that my privacy is respected while I manage my home network.

Really helpful to customize my extender for best performance! Absolutely beats the web version. One problem though is that since for some reason the web version does not work I'm forced to use the app, which I don't mind, but I can't disable both extended networks in the app. It tells me to use the web version, which doesn't work for me. I use Ethernet from my extender to my laptop and disabling the extended networks would improve performance, so I hope tplink can add that in the app. 😁

I've used this app for four years. Fearures are laid out poorly, interface is bad, and it just plain doesn't work sometimes. Random gremlins appear(bedtimes don't work), then go away for no apparent reason. Trying to do any custom configuration of settings and getting them to stick for longer than a week is a gamble. I wouldn't recommend the app or the routers to be honest.

I had better Wi-Fi connection with my old 2018 router then the new 2026 tether routers. they're experts recommended it to me. but has a lot of annoying smart features. and requires you to make an account and pay to fit your environment. unless you're an IT tech expert and can do it yourself. Also the FBI email user that tether routers are vulnerable due to firmware issues. I could confirm the email was genuine. Also router loses data stability even if it's connected. I regret buying it.

It doesnt alert when new devices are connected to the network. I have tried everything and the feature it still doesn't work. 5/25/26 I used this app to control what time my children could get on the internet/ when the internet goes off for devices but now that feature is behind a pay wall and I don't like that. I didn't even know the feature had been changed. there was nothing sent out about it. That is basic parental controls. I guess everyone trying to make money.

The features are kind of ok, When they mention the subscription they don't mention you have to buy some of the "Protection" with other vendors, only thing you get is "antivirus" which isn't even at kernel level, so basically useless save your money not worth $150, then theirs the connection issue when you try to input a new device the app claims "long password" even if it's six letters, when you try to do it online all they have are useless links that take you no where. save your money.
