This has always been an excellent browser game, and the mobile version is quite strong - and adds a nice framework game to extend the playability beyond completion of the basic game dramatically. I did encounter one bug, and saw no easy way to report it: in the rare case where the price for "another token of goodwill" extends beyond $2 billion, the listed price remains at $2 billion but the price you must pay continues to double. I had over $3 billion and the option to buy remained grayed out.

Played this a ton a few years ago, back when crashes and performance were pretty dodgy. Had a lot of fun regardless, but now, playing it again with the new updates, I can confidently recommend the game to others. Everything has been cleaned up, and you can make paperclips to your hearts content. Can't wait to put another 100+ hours in!

I'm annoyed at the requirement of 70k ops for the drones. It's far too easy to lock yourself in a spot where your progress slows to a crawl, only being able to throw away the past hour or two and restart *or* spend several more hours playing on. Please let us convert processors into memory, or something else to let us go into Stage 2. I've been stuck in Stage 1 for ages.

Update: The latest version is much more stable! I haven't experienced any crashes. Works just like the web version! Game play is just like the online version. However, as others have noted, the game is unusably unstable on recent versions of Android (14 here). My experience was that the longer the game was open, particularly without interacting with it, the higher the probability it will crash. Progress is only saved on exit, so you can easily lose significant progress due to a single crash.

Game crashes often on my Pixel 2 it's freeze after pressing a button and then start flashing rapidly. Edit: Developer responded after addressing the crashing issues. Although, it took a long time Universal Paperclips remains a simple but incredibly clever game with a message that is arguably even more resonant in the year 2026 than when it was originally released.
