3.7 Upward: Christian Dating App is designed specifically for individuals seeking meaningful relationships grounded in faith. Here are some of its standout features that make it a unique platform for Christian singles:
As a busy professional, I often find it challenging to meet new people, especially those who share my faith. I decided to give Upward a try during my lunch breaks and evenings. One day, while waiting for my coffee, I opened the app and browsed through profiles. I was pleasantly surprised to find someone who not only shared my love for hiking but also attended the same church. We ended up chatting and decided to meet for a hike the following weekend. It was refreshing to connect with someone who understood my values and lifestyle.
The user interface of Upward is clean and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a simple layout that allowed me to quickly access my matches, messages, and profile settings. The feature workflow is seamless; I could easily swipe through profiles, send messages, and even share prayer requests without any hiccups. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly, with minimal loading times. Overall, my experience has been positive, as I felt comfortable and encouraged to engage with others who share my faith.
Upward offers a free version that allows users to create a profile, browse matches, and send messages. However, for those looking for an enhanced experience, there is a premium subscription available. This subscription unlocks additional features such as seeing who liked your profile and accessing advanced filters for more tailored matches. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the value of connecting with like-minded individuals.
The app is regularly updated, which is evident in the new features and improvements I’ve noticed since I started using it. The support team is responsive and helpful; I had a minor issue with my profile, and they resolved it quickly. Additionally, the app provides a comprehensive FAQ section that addresses common concerns, making it easy for users to find answers without needing to reach out directly.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using dating apps. Upward is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary standards for app safety. During registration, the app requires basic personal information, such as your name, age, and email address, which is standard for dating platforms. However, it also emphasizes the importance of privacy, allowing users to control who can see their profiles and personal information.
One of my concerns was about ads and tracking behavior. Upward does not bombard users with intrusive ads, which is a relief. Instead, it focuses on creating a community atmosphere. The app does collect data to improve user experience, but it is transparent about its practices, allowing users to opt-out of certain tracking features. Overall, I feel secure using Upward, knowing that my personal information is handled with care and respect.

Small issue. Ever since the ads for other dating apps have been popping up, shortly after I see one, I'll have to swipe past 1 account twice in a row. This hasn't had any negative consequences until today. Shortly after an ad, I liked an account, then the account repeated-- & naturally I liked it again since I thought it was a glitch. However, it turns out that they were 2 separate accounts, & I matched with someone I didn't like. Awkward. Now I have to ghost a poor guy.

I would not recommend this app. Within a couple of hours of creating my account, the app crashed and my account was disabled with no explanation. I contacted customer service and was told to email them from the email address I used to sign up (which I did) or contact customer service while being logged into my account (which was not possible since I was unable to log in after trying several times). No further resolution was provided and I was unable to create a new account.

This app is a total money grab. After the initial subscription, you quickly realize the costs don't stop. Charging around fifty dollars a month and over two hundred dollars a year is complete overkill for what you get. You have to keep paying extra for basic settings and features just to use the app properly. You'll just be wasting your time and money, so look elsewhere.

Paywall structure is confusing. When you pay down one for $35 6/mo, it doesn't let you know prior that there's 3 tiers. The second of which is $75 EXTRA. Same thing pretty much all dating sites are guilty of including non-Christian ones. Reducing rating even more. They've been doing other deceptive practices with this app than before. Like introducing streaks and manipulating it to where you're never actually rewarded.

Updating my review: After several years there is still no option to opt out of friendship. You can disable dating, you should be able to disable friendship. Also there needs to be a way to set hard distance limit, I have absolutely 0 interest in dating someone 500 miles away from me. However there are way better people on here than on other apps in terms of actually having values. No swipe limit is nice but I think I would trade that for being able to see who liked me.
