4.6 Yahoo Finance: Stocks & News is a powerful app that caters to both novice investors and seasoned traders. With its user-friendly interface and comprehensive features, it has become an essential tool for anyone looking to stay informed about the financial markets. Here are some of the core features that make this app stand out:
As someone who is passionate about investing, I find myself using the Yahoo Finance app in various scenarios throughout my day. For example, during my morning commute, I often check the app to review my watchlist and see how my stocks are performing. This quick glance helps me gauge whether I need to make any adjustments to my portfolio before the market opens. Additionally, I use the app during lunch breaks to catch up on the latest financial news, ensuring that I am well-informed about any developments that could affect my investments.
The user interface of Yahoo Finance is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through different sections of the app. The layout is clean, with essential information readily accessible. I appreciate how the app organizes news articles, stock data, and educational resources, allowing me to find what I need quickly. The performance is smooth, with minimal loading times, which is crucial when I’m trying to access real-time data. Overall, my experience with the app has been positive; it feels like a reliable companion in my investment journey, providing me with the tools and information I need to make informed decisions.
Yahoo Finance is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for those just starting in the world of investing. While there are premium features available through Yahoo Finance Plus, the free version offers a robust set of tools that cater to most users' needs. The premium subscription provides additional insights and advanced analytics, but I find that the free version is sufficient for my current investment strategy.
The app is regularly updated, ensuring that users have access to the latest features and improvements. I’ve noticed enhancements in the user interface and additional educational content over time, which shows that Yahoo is committed to providing a top-notch experience. Customer support is also readily available through the app, with options to contact them for assistance or to report issues. This level of support gives me confidence that any problems I encounter will be addressed promptly.
When it comes to security and privacy, Yahoo Finance takes several measures to protect its users. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. Upon registration, users are required to provide some personal data, such as an email address, which is standard for financial apps. However, I appreciate that Yahoo Finance does not require excessive personal information, which helps maintain my privacy.
In terms of ads and tracking behavior, the app does display advertisements, but they are not overly intrusive. Yahoo Finance also provides options to manage your ad preferences, allowing you to control the type of ads you see. Overall, I feel secure using the app, knowing that my data is handled responsibly and that I have some control over my privacy settings.

I input everything manually, do not need my real financial accounts connected and vulnerable, and I do not use it for trades. But it's been a good tool to track happening with individual holdings and types of holdings. I use it to find specifics to research, over the years it has also been a great way to track my original buy-in price as the brokerage records don't reflect that after a brokerage change or repricing after the death of a co-owner. Upgrades/improvements have been excellent

Mostly a great app to give you the market info on the stocks you're interested in and to easily see the portfolio info you've provided. One main issue I have is accounting for dividends. They should do that better, whether it's adding to your share number and accounting for it with a decrease in cost basis (how I treat dividends), or accounting for it if you take a cash disbursement.

The charts don't work again. I cannot view indicators. The chart never loads. It just spins. I cleared the cache. That didn't work. Then I deleted the data. That didn't work either. I uninstalled and restarted my device, then reinstalled the app. Guess what? That didn't work either. This happens every 2 or 3 months like clockwork. Please fix.

This latest update reduced the amount of information that is viewable at a quick glance. What I loved about Yahoo Finance was how quick I could scan and scroll through information. Now I have to navigate to get to information that was once aggregated in a single screen. The data still lags a bit, which has always been my complaint... but for a free app, I could live with it.

This app freezes every day many, many times!!! I have the fastest processor on the S26 Ultra. Also used the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Doesn't matter. The app stutters. It's horrible. And get rid of the significant stock movement alert. Don't care and it takes up a lot of space. If you need to trade quickly, don't use this app because it will freeze.
