4.7 The "Yahoo Sports: Scores and News" app is a treasure trove for sports enthusiasts, offering a plethora of features that cater to every fan's needs. Here are some of the core highlights that make this app stand out:
As a sports fanatic, I find myself reaching for the "Yahoo Sports: Scores and News" app in various scenarios throughout my day. Whether I’m at work, out with friends, or even at home, the app is my go-to source for all things sports. For instance, during my lunch break, I often check the app to catch up on the latest scores and news updates. It’s a quick and easy way to stay informed without having to sift through multiple websites. On weekends, when I’m watching games with friends, I use the app to keep track of fantasy scores and player stats, which sparks lively discussions and friendly banter among us.
The user interface of the "Yahoo Sports: Scores and News" app is sleek and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that showcases live scores and trending news. The workflow is seamless; I can easily switch between different sports and leagues with just a few taps. Performance-wise, the app is responsive, with minimal loading times, which is crucial during live events. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The app not only keeps me informed but also enhances my enjoyment of sports, making it an essential part of my daily routine.
The "Yahoo Sports: Scores and News" app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for sports fans looking for a comprehensive source of information without breaking the bank. While there are ads present, they are not overly intrusive, allowing for a relatively smooth user experience. For those who want an ad-free experience, there may be premium options available, but I find the free version sufficient for my needs.
Yahoo regularly updates the app to enhance performance and introduce new features, which keeps the experience fresh and engaging. I appreciate the promptness of these updates, especially during peak sports seasons. Additionally, the support team is responsive; I once encountered a minor issue with notifications, and after reaching out, I received a helpful response within a day. This level of support adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and "Yahoo Sports: Scores and News" takes these concerns seriously. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring a level of trustworthiness. Upon registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, which is standard for most apps. However, I appreciate that the app allows users to customize their privacy settings, giving me control over what data is shared.
In terms of ads and tracking behavior, the app does display advertisements, but they are relevant to my interests, which is a plus. Yahoo has a clear privacy policy that outlines how user data is handled, and I feel reassured knowing that my information is protected. Overall, I feel confident using the app, knowing that my privacy is respected while I enjoy my favorite sports content.

This would be a 5 star app if not for the notifications. it turns on every possible category of notifications by default. you have to navigate through multiple levels of notifications settings to turn most of them off. After all of that, you will still get notifications for gambling odds, which isn't even listed in the notification settings. unavoidable promotion of gambling should be illegal

Great app! Edit: Removing a star because I'm frustrated by the inability to control which sports leagues are prioritized in the list on the Scores tab. The order changes sporadically with the season, ostensibly to account for which leagues are and are not playing. However, perhaps I don't like basketball and don't want the first three leagues on the list to be basketball leagues? This needs to be something the user can control.

For over a decade, Yahoo Sports has been my go-to sports app. If it gets buggier, I'll be looking elsewhere. With the last update scrolling will simply freeze. Can't scroll back or forward. Often an article loads as far as the headline but the story section is blank. Then there are the VERY annoying ads for "The Old Man" which jump into that whole screen and, if I scroll down, if any of the ad is still visible, it jumps back up to the top of the ad. Arrgh!

This app is just disappointment coded into your phone. Nothing even the least bit complicated works. Videos barely play, streaming the games has never once functioned, the score streams are all way more delayed than CBS and ESPN apps. Their content is only meh, so you might as well go somewhere else. Maybe I'll up this to two or three stars if their game streaming ever starts to work.

Not sure what's happening but just "needed" an update and now pages don't load all the way, can't watch a game, and scores barely update. I am on Wi-Fi with my GPS on there shouldn't be a reason its not working. Before this it was ok I would have rated it 4 stars because it's live football for free (in your market which is why you have to use gps) but it wasn't perfect by any means had to close and restart app at least two or three times a game.
