The app was good until the recent update. After the update it told me that I needed to login and it won't allow me to update my account. *** Update 04/25/2018, now my third party email app won't allow me to access the account, I call AOL's help line and they want me to pay to upgrade my account just to get the support to access my account, what a scam. They probably messed with the free accounts to push users into paid accounts. ***Update 06/29/2026, yet again I can't get into my emails.

The app only defaults to "news" view. I would prefer it open to email, or at least be given the option. When opening the email client, it only shows the most recent 30 emails. But it will still show you your older emails. I get 80+ emails a day and am never quite sure if they've all been loaded. Fix these two things and I might reinstall.

It shows you a page with news, trends and other items first, which you cannot bypass or have it default to the email portion of the app first. Also, you can't opt out of using the app simply for email where you can register and use other apps like Gmail as your email client instead. Also, while the app has a comments/bulletin board for these types of complaints it almost seems like it's designed to not let you register your comments. Notifications come back after you've reviewed emails. Fail.

The latest update on Android made a complete mess of the UI, particularly when you save a message, etc, the message isn't automatically moved to the proper folder and it's complete garbage, especially when I pay monthly for an aol subscription. If this isn't fixed in 48 hours, I'll be canceling my subscription and using other email apps I have. I've been an aol user for 30 years and if this is the careless, untested updates you're pushing out, then I have no option but to switch email apps.

I have used AOL for years and it's ran rather smoothly. But this last update doesn't allow me to move inbox items to folders anymore. I mean the option is there as always, but when I select the folder and tell it to move, it doesn't. It stays in the inbox, although I get the message that says it moved. Only have the problem on the app, it works fine on the PC.
