Real Experience Using "ASICS Runkeeper: Fitness App"

Application Scenarios

My journey with ASICS Runkeeper began on a crisp Saturday morning. I laced up my running shoes, excited to hit the pavement. As I stepped outside, I opened the app, ready to track my run. I often use it during my morning jogs, weekend long runs, and even while cycling through the local trails. The app has become an integral part of my fitness routine, helping me stay motivated and on track with my goals.

On weekdays, I utilize the app for quick 30-minute runs during my lunch break. The personalized training plans have been a game-changer, allowing me to fit in effective workouts even with a busy schedule. I also love using it when I travel; whether I’m in a new city or exploring a scenic route, Runkeeper helps me discover new paths while keeping track of my performance.

User Experience

The user interface of ASICS Runkeeper is clean and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through various features. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a dashboard that displays my recent activities, upcoming workouts, and personal records. The workflow is smooth; starting a workout takes just a few taps, and I appreciate how quickly I can access my stats mid-run.

Performance-wise, the app is reliable. I’ve experienced minimal lag, and the GPS tracking is impressively accurate. After each workout, I receive a detailed summary, including pace, distance, and calories burned, which helps me analyze my performance and make adjustments to my training. Overall, using Runkeeper feels rewarding, as it not only tracks my progress but also encourages me to push my limits.

Pricing

ASICS Runkeeper offers a free version that includes many essential features, making it accessible for casual users. However, for those looking for a more enhanced experience, the premium subscription unlocks advanced features like personalized coaching, live tracking, and ad-free usage. The premium plan is reasonably priced, and I found it worth the investment, especially as I ramped up my training for upcoming races.

Updates & Support

The app is regularly updated, which is a significant plus. I’ve noticed improvements in features and performance with each update, keeping the app fresh and user-friendly. Customer support is also commendable; I had a minor issue with syncing my wearable device, and the support team responded promptly with helpful solutions. Their commitment to user satisfaction is evident, making me feel valued as a user.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using fitness apps like ASICS Runkeeper. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my name and email address, which is standard for most fitness apps.

One concern I had was regarding ads and tracking behavior. While the free version does include ads, they are not overly intrusive. The app does collect data to improve user experience and provide personalized features, but I appreciate that it offers options to manage privacy settings. Overall, I feel secure using ASICS Runkeeper, knowing that my data is handled responsibly.

GPS tracking works well in offline mode, but it frequently drops the connection to my Wahoo Tickr heart rate monitor, losing hours of data that I need. If all you want is a "you walked X distance" app, here you go, but if you actually want any relevant information, this won't be it. I'm exhausted at this point with apparently no app being able to handle both GPS tracking and heart rate monitoring, because Strava, Wahoo, and Runkeeper have all failed in one or the other.

I started running, with run keeper as my primary app. After I got a fitness watch, I still used runkeeper as my primary for tracking metrics, but I control my workouts through the app, and runkeeper pulls the data. This data pull is inconsistent, and once a week or every other week it simply misses a workout, like it didn't happen. This is a flaw that I can't live with, so I'm leaving this review as I uninstall the app. I've moved to intervals.icu, and I'm very happy there.

The app is extremely stupid. It's connected to my watch, and it takes information from both Google Fit and Fitbit. So if I do a morning run, it will count the activity 3 times - RunKeeper itself, Fit, and Fitbit! So it looks as if I burned 3x calories. This is insane - take an average, or maximum, or do something reasonable, but don't count in triplicate!

I like that I can share my activities with my friends and sync with MyFitnessPal/Google fit. It doesn't allow me to save my settings, it goes to stopwatch mode everytime and when I disable it I restart the app it goes back to the stopwatch mode. Need the ability to continue an accidentally stopped activity before saving and REALLY needs ability to start activities without internet, I do a lot of backpacking. Also needs ability to add backpack weight to hiking activities.

I've been using this app for many years and never had issues with it. About a year ago, it randomly quit tracking miles and only ran the time. I quit using it and downloaded it again in January. It worked up until today perfectly. I've went through all the troubleshooting suggestions (making sure batter optimization was off, tracking permissions allowed( and it still will not work. It's so frustrating because I enjoyed being able to look back and compare years.
