"Calorie Counter by Lose It!" is a user-friendly app designed to help you track your food intake and manage your weight effectively. With a vast database of foods, barcode scanning, and personalized goals, it simplifies calorie counting and encourages healthier eating habits. Whether you're looking to lose weight, maintain your current weight, or simply eat better, Lose It! provides the tools and support you need to achieve your health and wellness goals.

Features & Highlights

"Calorie Counter by Lose It!" is a powerful tool designed to help users track their food intake and achieve their weight loss goals. Here are some of its standout features:

  • Barcode Scanner: This feature allows users to quickly log food items by scanning their barcodes. For instance, when I’m at the grocery store, I can simply scan a new snack I want to try, and the app instantly pulls up the nutritional information, making it easy to decide if it fits into my daily goals.
  • Customizable Goals: Users can set personalized weight loss or maintenance goals based on their unique needs. I remember when I first started using the app; I was able to input my target weight and the app calculated my daily calorie limit, which was incredibly motivating.
  • Recipe Builder: This feature allows users to create and save their own recipes, making meal planning a breeze. I often cook at home, and with the recipe builder, I can input all the ingredients I use in my favorite dishes, and the app calculates the nutritional content for me, ensuring I stay on track.
  • Community Support: The app offers a community feature where users can connect with others on similar journeys. I found this particularly helpful when I was feeling demotivated; reading success stories and sharing my own progress with others kept me inspired.
  • Integration with Fitness Trackers: "Calorie Counter by Lose It!" seamlessly integrates with various fitness trackers, allowing users to sync their workouts and adjust their calorie goals accordingly. After a long run, I love how the app automatically updates my calorie allowance, giving me a little extra leeway for that post-workout snack!

Real Experience Using "Calorie Counter by Lose It!"

Application Scenarios

As someone who is always on the go, I find myself using "Calorie Counter by Lose It!" in various scenarios throughout my day. For instance, during my busy workdays, I often eat lunch at my desk. I use the app to log my meals quickly, whether I’m having a homemade salad or ordering takeout. The barcode scanner comes in handy when I grab a pre-packaged meal from the fridge. On weekends, I enjoy cooking, and I use the recipe builder to create healthy dishes for my family. It’s a great way to ensure that we’re all eating nutritious meals while still enjoying our favorite flavors.

User Experience

The user interface of "Calorie Counter by Lose It!" is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean dashboard that displays my daily calorie intake, remaining calories, and a summary of my meals. Logging food is straightforward; I can search for items, scan barcodes, or even add custom foods. The app’s performance is smooth, with quick loading times and minimal lag, which is essential when I’m in a hurry. Overall, my experience has been positive, as the app not only helps me stay accountable but also makes tracking enjoyable. The motivational reminders and progress charts keep me engaged and focused on my goals.

Pricing

"Calorie Counter by Lose It!" offers a free version with essential features, but for those looking for a more comprehensive experience, there’s a premium subscription available. The premium version unlocks advanced features like detailed nutrient tracking, custom meal plans, and the ability to set multiple goals. I opted for the premium subscription after a month of using the free version, as I found the additional features invaluable for my weight loss journey.

Updates & Support

The app is regularly updated, which is a significant plus. I’ve noticed improvements in the barcode scanner and the addition of new food items over time. The support team is responsive; I once had a question about syncing my fitness tracker, and they got back to me within a day with a helpful solution. The community forums are also a great resource for tips and troubleshooting, making it easy to find answers to common questions.

Security & Privacy Review

When it comes to security and privacy, "Calorie Counter by Lose It!" takes user concerns seriously. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my age, weight, and height, which is essential for calculating my calorie needs. However, I appreciate that the app does not require overly intrusive personal data.

In terms of ads and tracking behavior, I noticed that the free version does include some advertisements, but they are not overly intrusive. The app does track my usage to provide personalized recommendations, but I feel comfortable knowing that my data is used solely to enhance my experience. Overall, I feel secure using "Calorie Counter by Lose It!" and appreciate their commitment to user privacy.

This WAS my favorite app for my diet journey. And the old version deserves 5+ stars. I have the paid version. But I installed the update a couple of days ago and it totally sucks! If you have this app and like it DON'T install the update. It is NOT nearly as easy to use, especially when trying to mark finished logging for the day. You gotta hunt for that now. I will be seeking a different app for my weight loss journey, even though I paid for a year's membership.

I've had this app for years. I even paid for it way back when and even though I'm not tracking my food as much, I'm still using it to track my weight. And, I could have sworn, there used to be a little + symbol in the bottom middle when first opening the app that no longer exists. This button opened up the menu to log things including weight. But now I have to scroll til I find the weight spot which is easy to miss while scrolling amongst everything else. Please add this button back!

I really do love this app, it's nice and simple for the most part. I paid for the Lifetime so you know I'm a fan. However, there are some issues. There are A LOT of foods that just aren't on here so most days I'm straight up making new ones to then track. But if I take more than 30 seconds to create the food item, after I click done all the data is reset and I have to restart. This also happens when trying to make recipes (which is one of the best capabilities of the app). I would love a fix. 🙏

I was very impressed my this app at first. The layout is good and practical and the database is nicely fleshed out. I started to get a bit unhappy when I found that barcode scanning was behind the paywall, which is unusual for this sort of app from my experience. Over time such annoyances have added up. I had a lot more to say but hit the limit. Put more succinctly, it's a great app that's dragged down badly by its choices in regard to monetization. Still usable, but irritating.

The voice entry option is GREAT in the app. A lot of times knowing I can just rattle off the things I remember eating for a meal and that it'll get them right (including amount) super quick is a big thing that has kept me going. I DO pay for the premium version, but it also feels worth it. They have a lifetime premium option as well if that is something you are looking for. This app has grown a LOT since I had started using it about 15 years ago on an iPod touch 😁
