2.8 Freeview is a fantastic app that brings a world of entertainment right to your fingertips. With its user-friendly interface and a plethora of features, it stands out as a go-to choice for anyone looking to enjoy live TV and on-demand content without the hassle of subscriptions. Here are some of its core features:
As a busy professional, I often find myself juggling work and personal commitments, leaving little time for leisure. Freeview has become my go-to app for unwinding after a hectic day. One of my favorite scenarios is when I’m cooking dinner. I simply launch the app on my tablet, tune into a live cooking show, and follow along while preparing my meal. It’s a delightful way to combine my love for cooking with entertainment.
Another scenario is during my weekend travels. I often find myself in places with limited internet connectivity, but with Freeview’s offline viewing feature, I can download episodes of my favorite series before I leave. This way, I can binge-watch while relaxing in a cozy cabin or during a long train ride, making the most of my downtime.
The user interface of Freeview is sleek and modern, making it easy to navigate through various channels and content categories. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that displayed featured shows and live channels prominently. The search function is efficient, allowing me to find specific shows or genres quickly. I particularly appreciate the seamless transition between live TV and on-demand content, which enhances the overall viewing experience.
Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly without any noticeable lag, even when switching between channels. I’ve experienced minimal buffering, which is a significant plus for live streaming. Overall, my feelings after using Freeview are overwhelmingly positive; it has transformed the way I consume television, making it more accessible and enjoyable.
One of the best aspects of Freeview is that it’s completely free to use. There are no hidden fees or subscription costs, which is a refreshing change in a market saturated with paid streaming services. While there may be ads during some content, the trade-off for free access to a wide range of channels and shows is well worth it. I appreciate that I can enjoy quality entertainment without breaking the bank.
Freeview is regularly updated to enhance user experience and introduce new features. I’ve noticed improvements in the app’s performance and the addition of new channels over time, which keeps the content fresh and engaging. The support team is responsive and helpful; I once had a minor issue with the app crashing, and their customer service was quick to assist me, resolving the problem in no time. This level of support gives me confidence in the app’s reliability.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and Freeview does a commendable job in this regard. The app is available on official app stores like the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets necessary security standards. Upon registration, I was only required to provide minimal personal data, which is a relief compared to many other apps that demand extensive information.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, Freeview does display advertisements, but they are not overly intrusive. I appreciate that the app is transparent about its ad practices, and I haven’t noticed any excessive tracking or data collection beyond what is necessary for functionality. Overall, I feel secure using Freeview, knowing that my personal information is handled with care.

Programme reminders haven't worked for ages. Notifications have been positively allowed in the Freeview app settings, and also in the mobile device Settings>Apps to allow notifications, including locked/unlocked pop-ups. App used to work all the time, but hasn't worked for months now since summer/autumn 2024, even though the app has been uninstalled and reinstalled, and I am using the latest version.

Uninstalled, gone. Very disappointed. Nearly two years on since my last review, and it's still slow to load, often never loading! When I first used this app a few years ago, it was good, these days it's very slow to load, often not loading at all, even with a perfect internet connection. It's getting worse, not better!

Claims you can watch TV, which is false advertisement as you can't watch TV. You can download all the other free apps that might allow you to stream their content. In all you can watch 11 channels and none are +1 channels. It's more of a hub for the other apps. I've used a live TV streamer years back but was affected by legal issues, it's clear the lack of freedom to stream has more to do with greed than anything. Why pay a TV licence? No wonder people started using netflix.

Great little app. First of all, this isn't a streaming app so don't expect to be able to open & view programmes. It does provide links to open up some programmes in their own Apps. For example, BBC programmes are viewed in the iPlayer app, ITV programmes in the ITVx app. Think of this App like a replacement for your old TV Times, but without all the fluff. Plus, you can set reminders for any programme on the schedule which is rather convenient. So the app does what it says & does it very well

This had such promise, but is so disappointing. Having to install all the providers apps to watch is annoying, but the missing channels is infuriating! It should be the law that you have to make a stream available if you broadcast free to air in UK, that this app can then use. But for some reason it isn't! And the TV Guide is awful, especially the web browser version! Until this is a suitable replacement for TVheadend, it is just pointless software cluttering your phone / tablet!
