3.5 Google Fit: Activity Tracking is a comprehensive health and fitness app that offers a variety of features designed to help users monitor their physical activity and overall well-being. Here are some of the core features that stand out:
As someone who leads a busy lifestyle, I often find myself juggling work, family, and personal fitness goals. Google Fit has become an essential part of my daily routine. For instance, I use the app during my morning jogs to track my distance and pace. It’s incredibly motivating to see my progress over time, especially when I can compare my runs week by week. Additionally, I utilize the app during my lunch breaks at work, opting for brisk walks around the office to boost my energy levels. The reminders and notifications keep me accountable, ensuring I don’t skip my daily activity.
The user interface of Google Fit is clean and intuitive, making it easy for anyone to navigate. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a dashboard that displays my daily activity stats, including steps taken, calories burned, and Heart Points earned. The workflow is straightforward; I can quickly log activities or check my progress with just a few taps. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly without any noticeable lag, which is crucial when I’m in the middle of a workout. Overall, my experience with Google Fit has been overwhelmingly positive. It feels like having a personal trainer in my pocket, providing me with the insights and motivation I need to stay active.
One of the best aspects of Google Fit is that it is completely free to use. There are no hidden fees or premium subscriptions, which makes it accessible for everyone. This is particularly appealing to those who are just starting their fitness journey and may not want to invest in paid apps. The absence of a price tag allows users to explore all the features without any financial commitment.
Google Fit is regularly updated, ensuring that users benefit from the latest features and improvements. I’ve noticed enhancements in the app’s performance and new integrations with other health apps over time. The support provided by Google is also commendable; they have a dedicated help center where users can find answers to common questions or report issues. I’ve reached out for assistance once, and the response was prompt and helpful, which adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to health apps. Google Fit is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. The app requires users to create a Google account, which involves providing some personal data, but it’s important to note that Google has robust security measures in place to protect user information.
In terms of ads and tracking behavior, Google Fit does not bombard users with intrusive advertisements, which is a relief. However, it does collect data to improve user experience and provide personalized insights. Users can manage their privacy settings within the app, allowing them to control what data is shared and with whom. Overall, I feel confident using Google Fit, knowing that my data is handled with care and that I have control over my privacy settings.

I really want to like and use this app. I have a couple issues preventing this. first, sometimes it does not count steps. Two walking workouts in a day and steps for both were ignored. but a walk in the store s couple hours later was. This has happened on more than one occasion. Second, you're cannot edit duration of a workout. Sometimes I forget to end a workout and it totally messes up my tracking. I will be sticking with samsung health for now.

Wish there was a way for the step counter widget to update in real time. Especially at the end of the day when I'm trying to reach my target goal. And most of the time when I open the app it still takes 30 seconds or more for it to update the count. And sometime it won't update at all. Frustratingly, sometimes the app will decrease the amount of steps or heart points that you have earned. If you are trying to maintain a streak of days where you've made your target this can be very demotivating.

It doesn't sync to anything anymore. Google Fit is now blocking apps I want to connect to and have previously connected to. Data is inaccurate because of the lack of syncing, even when shown as connectedness. If you try disconnecting and reconnecting the applications, Google Fit will deny the connection, and there is no way to override. Google Fit is Junk!

I seriously loved this app. It was a great catch-all for me because I hike, cycle, and horseback ride. But now that they're discontinuing it, the whole thing is going downhill. I have no idea why they decided to kill this thing; it was reliable, easy to use, and would sync nicely will other apps. Super disappointed because all of the other fitness apps look like buggy, expensive messes. PLEASE Google I BEG YOU to keep this app alive.

It's a good app. I use a Fossil Gen 6 and while I use both apps Fit seems to work better. I like tracking my vitals along with my activity for the day. THAT SAID... I have a backlog of data and don't like weight entry set up like an "odometer" and the calendar is also tedious. Just let me type in the data please. Even better, you folks seem hard core on us talking to our phones, why not just me tell Fit, without typing/scrolling at all? And bring back desktop support like all your other apps!
