4.7 As an artist, I often find myself in need of quick references to enhance my work. One of my favorite scenarios is when I’m sketching outdoors. I love to capture the essence of nature, but sometimes I need a little help with proportions or poses. The Handy Art Reference Tool has become my go-to companion during these outings. I can quickly pull up images of trees, animals, or even human figures to ensure my sketches are accurate and dynamic.
Another scenario where this app shines is during my studio sessions. When I’m working on a complex piece, I often need to reference multiple images at once. The customizable reference boards allow me to gather all my necessary images in one place, making it easy to switch between them as I work. This has streamlined my creative process and helped me stay organized.
The user interface of the Handy Art Reference Tool is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. The main menu is straightforward, allowing me to access the image library, my boards, and tools without any hassle. I particularly appreciate how quickly I can search for specific images; the search function is responsive and yields relevant results almost instantly.
In terms of performance, the app runs smoothly without any lag, even when I’m using the pose and gesture tools. I’ve never experienced crashes or slow loading times, which is crucial when I’m in the zone and need to access references quickly. Overall, my experience with the Handy Art Reference Tool has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel it has significantly improved my artistic workflow.
The Handy Art Reference Tool offers a free version with limited features, which is great for casual users. However, for those who want to unlock the full potential of the app, there’s a premium subscription available. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the extensive library and tools provided. I opted for the premium version, and I can confidently say it’s worth every penny for serious artists looking to elevate their craft.
The developers of the Handy Art Reference Tool are proactive in providing updates and support. I’ve noticed regular updates that introduce new features and improve existing ones, which shows their commitment to user satisfaction. Additionally, the support team is responsive and helpful. I had a minor issue with syncing my boards across devices, and they resolved it quickly, which left me feeling valued as a user.
When it comes to security and privacy, the Handy Art Reference Tool takes user concerns seriously. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was only required to provide minimal personal information, which is a relief in today’s data-driven world.
Importantly, the app does not bombard users with ads, which can often be a significant privacy concern. I appreciate that my experience is not interrupted by intrusive advertisements. Additionally, the app does not engage in excessive tracking behavior, allowing me to use it freely without worrying about my data being sold or misused. Overall, I feel secure using the Handy Art Reference Tool, knowing that my privacy is respected.

I don't usually write reviews, but Handy absolutely earned it. With brand new (free!) features being added such as subsurface scattering, new high-resolution models, and ability to load multiple models in a scene, they've established themselves as one of my essential tools for digital art. I recommend it to anyone who is starting out drawing or rendering and needs that solid anatomical/lighting foundation. Can't wait to see what features they will come out with in the future!

Pretty good app! I appreciate the detailed skin texture, tendons, and veins in the hands, and the variety of head types are nice. There are things I wished were better though. The interface and controls can be a bit confusing, especially with relation to moving items and light sources. It could really use with an undo button as well. I would also appreciate more pose presets and props, especially smaller handheld props like cups, pens, and cigarettes.

I like the app. It has basic objects to use. A female skull should be included if there is a male skull. I like the basic 3D shapes. I rotate them to practice perspective. The fact I had to buy the app, but also have to buy the foot models is slightly disappointing but it's called handy so..... But it's not expensive. Just a dollar. Adding Torso's would be nice. Other amazing features like changing lighting & surface types/material and how it effects the models differently is great for learning.

There is not a better made artist assistant app than this. You can bend at every joint! They have heads, animal skulls, feet! You can move the lighting, change colors of the lighting, set shadows! The 3d models are incredibly intricate, and the coding is sublime. You people working on this app, thank you! P.s. a tiny thing that I think might just be with my phone, the opening selection screen is now sideways, it no longer fits along my screen normally, still works perfectly though! Oneplus6

I really don't know why people say this is a great app. It has no "free" things to make it worthwhile. It doesn't change skin tone even tho I change the setting. It doesn't "bend at all the joints" like one reviewer said and honestly it's the same tired boring poses and references that most free apps have. Save your money and buy poseit or the proko app. You'll get more for your hard earned dollar. If I could return this app I certainly would. Very very disappointing.
