Features & Highlights

For instance, when I was drafting a project proposal, I could quickly format headings, lists, and links without any hassle, making my document look professional and organized.
  • End-to-End Encryption: Security is paramount, and Joplin offers end-to-end encryption to protect your notes. I often jot down sensitive information, and knowing that my data is encrypted gives me peace of mind, especially when syncing across devices.
  • Cross-Platform Syncing: Joplin seamlessly syncs across multiple devices, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. I frequently switch between my laptop and smartphone, and the ability to access my notes anywhere has been a game-changer for my productivity.

Real Experience Using "Joplin"

Application Scenarios

My journey with Joplin began when I was looking for a reliable note-taking app that could keep up with my busy lifestyle. As a freelance writer, I often find myself juggling multiple projects, and I needed a tool that could help me stay organized. I use Joplin to draft articles, keep track of research, and even manage my personal to-do lists. For example, during a recent project, I created a dedicated notebook for all my research notes, which I could easily reference while writing. This streamlined my workflow and allowed me to focus on creativity rather than searching for information.

User Experience

The user interface of Joplin is clean and straightforward, which I appreciate as it allows me to dive right into my work without unnecessary distractions. The layout is intuitive, with a sidebar for notebooks and tags, making navigation a breeze. I found the feature workflow to be smooth; creating a new note or organizing existing ones is quick and efficient. Performance-wise, Joplin has been reliable, with minimal lag even when handling large notebooks. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, as the app feels like a trusted companion in my daily tasks.

Pricing

One of the best aspects of Joplin is that it is completely free and open-source. This means I can use all its features without worrying about hidden costs or subscription fees. While there is an option to donate to support the developers, I appreciate that I can access a high-quality note-taking app without financial constraints. This makes Joplin an excellent choice for students and professionals alike.

Updates & Support

Joplin is regularly updated, with new features and improvements being rolled out frequently. I’ve noticed enhancements in performance and usability with each update, which shows the developers are committed to refining the app. Additionally, the community support is robust, with forums and documentation available for troubleshooting. I’ve found answers to my questions quickly, which adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are top concerns for me, and Joplin addresses these issues effectively. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that I can download it from trusted sources. When it comes to registration, Joplin does not require personal data to create an account, which is a significant plus for privacy-conscious users like myself. I can use the app without providing any sensitive information.

Moreover, Joplin does not display ads or engage in tracking behavior, which is refreshing in today’s app landscape. The end-to-end encryption feature further enhances my confidence in the app, as it ensures that my notes remain private and secure. Overall, Joplin prioritizes user privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for anyone looking to keep their notes safe.

a truly offline notes app that synchronizes using free cloud storage. I've had some issues with syncing, but I was able to fix them with a bit of effort, and I have full control over my data. i love it, I've fully switched over to it. side note: you gotta wait for the synchronization API link to be accepted. don't exit it prematurely, you'll have to reinstall the app.

I hope I'm not too harsh. I appreciate this free app. the "share to" feature, that lets you share text from another app to Joplin, is broken because instead of creating a new note, it'll replace an existing note at random which deletes all the text from said note. Big bug! Otherwise, the app is nicely designed with folders and text formatting options. It feels like the design could be faster to use. To need to open the sidebar constantly to change folders is perhaps harder than a pop up menu.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Offline, hierarchy, simple, easy to organize, free and no mandatory account! Amazing app, very excited to use this and clean up some paper clutter! There are multiple dark theme variations but the bright white font is pretty straining to me. Light has the opposite, but solarized light is great. Could opacity or a couple options be added to slightly adjust font and BG for themes like Dracula, Light or OL dark? zoom out would be nice for app, tables cut off

PLEASE ADD A WIDGET FOR THIS APP. Otherwise... I love Joplin and it's the only note app I genuinely trust. It has most of the same functionality as other apps like Keep and OneNote and then some... but allows you to host your own cloud data and encrypt your backups. There's a plug-in for encrypting local data, as well. I love it!

Hitting the edit button should open at the position I'm looking at so I don't have to scroll down for 10 minutes every time I want to edit my notes. Instead, I have to carry my 10 lb laptop with me instead of just being able to do this easily on my iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard or on my phone for simple edits.
