4.3 MyFitnessPal: cuenta calorías is a powerful tool for anyone looking to manage their diet and fitness goals. With its user-friendly interface and robust features, it stands out as a go-to app for calorie counting and nutritional tracking. Here are some of its core features:
My journey with MyFitnessPal began when I decided to take my health more seriously. Every morning, I would log my breakfast, which typically consists of oatmeal and fruit. The app makes it easy to input my meals, and I love how it provides instant feedback on my calorie intake. During lunch breaks at work, I often find myself reaching for a quick snack. With the barcode scanner, I can quickly log a granola bar or a yogurt, ensuring I stay within my daily limits. On weekends, I enjoy cooking new recipes, and I use the app to analyze the nutritional content of my meals, helping me make healthier choices without sacrificing flavor.
The user interface of MyFitnessPal is intuitive and straightforward. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean dashboard that displays my daily calorie goal, remaining calories, and a summary of my meals. Logging food is a breeze; I can either search the database or scan barcodes, and the app remembers my frequently consumed items, which speeds up the process. The performance is smooth, with minimal lag, even when I’m adding multiple items at once. I appreciate the visual graphs that show my progress over time, making it easy to stay motivated. Overall, using MyFitnessPal feels like having a personal nutritionist in my pocket, guiding me toward my health goals.
MyFitnessPal offers a free version that includes most of the essential features, which is perfect for casual users. However, for those looking for advanced features like detailed nutrient analysis and ad-free usage, there’s a premium subscription available. The premium version is reasonably priced, and I found it worth the investment for the additional insights and customization options it provides.
The developers of MyFitnessPal are committed to improving the app continuously. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and fix bugs. The support team is responsive; I once had a question about syncing my fitness tracker, and they replied promptly with helpful instructions. Additionally, the app has a robust FAQ section that addresses common concerns, making it easy to find solutions without needing to contact support.
As an American user, I take security and privacy seriously, and MyFitnessPal does a commendable job in this area. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards. When registering, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my email and age, but I appreciated that the app allows for some level of anonymity if desired.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, MyFitnessPal does display ads in the free version, but they are not overly intrusive. The app also collects data to improve user experience, but I found the privacy policy transparent, detailing how my information is used. Overall, I feel secure using MyFitnessPal, knowing that my data is handled responsibly.

Mostly good, and far better than the popular alternatives. Two annoying problems. The Diary doesn't show the items in the accurate order anymore, which makes it hard to check if I entered them correctly. Also, if I open the app and search a food, about half the time, before I finish logging it, the app randomly takes me back to the main screen (with "Today" at the top) and I have to start again, which is frustrating and adds friction to the action that should be the easiest.

For over a year I have not been able to save recipes I create. After entering all of my items, with a combination of scanning, searching the database or adding a new item...every single time the app gives an error. This is not a cheap app and this feature should work. A quick google or reddit search shows tons of people have this problem. Updated rating as recipes now work finally.

ok I had started to use this app because it was recommended by health coach at work. A trainer at the gym i started going to recommended a different app. So for a bit I was using both to compare the 2 other app more user friendly, but I started a new program and they recommended this app. So i reinstalled it. I don't like having to pay to get the barcode reader, and I found that some of the macros don't calculate correctly when building a recipe. This is important when one is tracking them!

Update: that's a stupid to add to the notes This sucks that you can't track magnesium for your electrolytes. They don't even have the option to add magnesium when you create a food. Their help site says to create a food and add your supplements there. Hello!!! It's not listed. I mean how hard is it to add it to the list of nutrients. That post was a few years ago and it's still not an option. They have no problem changing the app for the worse. I have premium. I expect to be able to custom add.

Terrible, terrible design. User interface is the most confusing, non-intuitive design imaginable. Also, wildly inconsistent calorie counts for food items. I typed in 1 cup cooked quinoa and saw search results ranging from 120 calories to 225. The search results appeared crowd sourced, so accuracy is dubious. People just write in their opinions, defeats the purpose of counting calories. Stay away from this app.
