4.1 Noom: Weight Loss & Health is not just another weight loss app; it’s a comprehensive health platform that focuses on behavior change and sustainable lifestyle adjustments. Here are some of its standout features:
My journey with Noom began during a particularly busy season at work. I often found myself reaching for unhealthy snacks during long meetings or late-night work sessions. With Noom, I started logging my meals right after I ate, even if it was just a handful of nuts or a quick sandwich. The app’s reminders helped me stay on track, and I began to notice patterns in my eating habits. On weekends, I would use the app to plan my meals ahead of time, ensuring I had healthy options ready to go, which made a significant difference in my overall choices.
The user interface of Noom is sleek and user-friendly, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a dashboard that displayed my daily goals, progress, and motivational messages. The workflow is seamless; logging food is as simple as searching for items or scanning barcodes. I appreciated the color-coded system that categorized foods into green, yellow, and red, helping me make informed choices at a glance. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly without any glitches, and I never experienced lag, even during peak usage times. Overall, my feelings after using Noom were overwhelmingly positive; it felt like I had a supportive friend guiding me through my weight loss journey.
Noom operates on a subscription model, which can be a bit of a commitment. The pricing varies depending on the length of the subscription you choose, with options for monthly, quarterly, or annual plans. I opted for the monthly plan initially to see if it was worth the investment. While it may seem pricey compared to other apps, the personalized coaching and extensive resources made it feel justified. Plus, the potential health benefits are priceless!
Noom frequently updates its app to enhance user experience and introduce new features. I noticed improvements in the food database and additional articles that kept the content fresh and engaging. Customer support is readily available through the app, and I found their response time to be quick and helpful when I had questions about my subscription. The community aspect also means that support is available from fellow users, which adds an extra layer of motivation.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that deals with personal health data. Noom is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my age, weight, and health goals, but I appreciated that the app emphasizes data protection. Noom does not sell personal data to third parties, which is a significant concern for many users. However, it does use tracking behavior to personalize the experience, which is common in many apps today. Overall, I felt secure using Noom, knowing that my data was handled responsibly.

The first time I used Noom, during the pandemic, it was super insightful and easy to use. Its interface is still pretty good, but I am so frustrated at the bugginess of the app. I am currently trying to keep tabs on my protein intake (which I only just realized was at about 25% of what it should be, as a woman in my 40s who is very active) and even when I edit food items in the app, I don't seem to ever get accurate data. My experience now is nowhere near what it was a few years ago.

This app is expensive for what it is, a calorie counting tool. Some articles interesting & useful. However, despite the fact that Noom is all about teaching you how to eat healthy, the only thing that affects your target to reach your weight loss for each day is calories. High fiber, low sugar granola is the same as a cookie. They are the same even in the food color categories assigned. There are a lot of features available for apple not for Android. Many tools like barcode scan don't work well

Dec 10 24 edit Now the app is stuck on the white screen with black circle.Uninstalled/reinstalled..still frozen. I've lost weight but also my patience/money. Original review: Too much $ for an app needs more work/fixes. I have been reporting wrong calories for soooo many items, and none have been fixed. They dont even gove you a space to put the updated nutritional facts when you report it is wrong. The barcode reader/camera is often out of focus. It quickly to type and search.

the body scan feature does not work. I get an unsupported device error but no guidance on what IS support. additionally the app needs to do a better job syncing tracking through Health Connect if using other apps to track things like food. the care first app does a pretty good job doing this, and if sponsored through carefirst, I would hope that I dont have to track the same things in multiple places.

Yes, this app did help me lose weight. But. I have an Android and they keep taking away key features that would save me time when logging my meals. They took away the ability to create a meal and save it to your favorites. This eliminates the need to add several ingredients every day. It's frustrating because I tend to eat the same meal for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately Noom chooses to only give this option to iPhone users. At least MyFitnessPal keeps the same features for both phones.
