Real Experience Using "Rev: Record & Transcribe"

Application Scenarios

As a freelance journalist, I often find myself in situations where capturing audio accurately is crucial. One of my favorite scenarios is during interviews. I typically use Rev to record conversations with sources, ensuring I don’t miss any vital information. The app’s ability to transcribe these recordings into text allows me to focus on the conversation rather than frantically taking notes. Additionally, I’ve used it for transcribing lectures during my online courses, which has been a game-changer for studying and reviewing material later.

User Experience

The user interface of Rev: Record & Transcribe is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. Recording audio is as simple as tapping a button, and I appreciate how the app organizes my recordings and transcriptions in one place. The workflow is seamless; after recording, I can easily submit the audio for transcription with just a few taps. The performance is impressive, with quick turnaround times for transcriptions. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, as the app has significantly streamlined my workflow.

Pricing

Rev operates on a pay-per-use model, which I find quite reasonable. The cost for transcription is around $1.25 per minute of audio, which is competitive compared to other services. While it may seem a bit pricey for longer recordings, the accuracy and quality of the transcriptions justify the expense. I often find that the time saved in editing and reviewing makes it worth every penny.

Updates & Support

Rev regularly updates its app to enhance functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed improvements in transcription speed and accuracy with recent updates. The support team is also responsive; I once had a question about a transcription, and they got back to me within a few hours. Their commitment to customer service is commendable, making me feel valued as a user.

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that handles sensitive audio recordings. Rev: Record & Transcribe is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards for these platforms. When registering, I was required to provide minimal personal data, which I appreciated. The app does not bombard users with ads, and I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior, which is a significant plus for me. Rev prioritizes user privacy, and I feel confident that my recordings are secure and handled with care.

I have several recordings I made only to find that all the sharing functions were faulty and there is literally no way at all to get the recordings off the phone digitally. I'm really upset - there used to be an email option, it's gone. There's a Dropbox button, it doesn't work. The other link options always fail to begin transferring. Having to go elsewhere.

AI summaries are the best, however there's no way to upgrade anywhere on the app. So my transcription recording is locked without any way to even pay to get it "unlocked". If you're recording something important—don't use this app. Otter provides more for free, even though it's not as fancy. And Otter offers ways to upgrade. I'm not sure why REV is like this. It has the best transcription quality and it's AI summaries are so profound they can become addition classes. But with no way to upgrade

Beware. I'm being charged $14.99/mo with no way to cancel through the Play store, the app or the actual website. Doesn't even show up as a subscription in my Play store account, so I can't cancel it there, unlike every other app I've ever downloaded and subscribed to through the Play store. The app has no account management options. After logging into the website, account management shows I'm on a "Free" plan with no way to cancel since I'm supposedly not being charged.

Only way to get the recordings is to share via Bluetooth and that when I try to do so I keep getting sending failed. The backup to Dropbox option is not working so I guess I'll have waste a few days of my life and record each individual file to my voice recorder. Get it together. This is a pointless app if you can't do anything with the files.

This app will not let you add to a recording, so if you're using it (like I do) to record inspired ideas that arise at any time, you're forced to save dozens of single ideas or risk losing your file as there is no confirmation on pre-saved files. If you want to avoid accidental erasures and also avoid having to send dozens of short recordings off to be transcribed, you have to type them out yourself yo get them into a single file. I've reported these rather easy to resolve issues many times.
