3.4 SCRUFF is not just another dating app; it’s a vibrant community designed specifically for gay, bi, trans, and queer men. With its unique features, SCRUFF stands out in the crowded dating landscape. Here are some of its core highlights:
As a frequent traveler and social butterfly, I often find myself using SCRUFF in various scenarios. For instance, during a recent business trip to New York City, I decided to explore the local gay scene. I opened SCRUFF and quickly connected with a few locals who were eager to show me around. We ended up visiting a couple of trendy bars and even attended a drag show together. It was a fantastic way to experience the city through the eyes of its residents, all thanks to SCRUFF.
Another scenario where SCRUFF shines is during community events. I often check the app to see if there are any SCRUFF-sponsored gatherings or meet-ups happening in my area. This has led me to some incredible events, from pride parades to art exhibitions, where I’ve met amazing people and made lasting friendships.
The user interface of SCRUFF is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through profiles and features. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that allows me to quickly access my messages, matches, and the events section. The workflow is seamless; I can swipe through profiles, send messages, and even check out nearby events without any hiccups. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly, with minimal loading times, which is a huge plus when I’m on the go.
Overall, my experience with SCRUFF has been overwhelmingly positive. The app fosters a sense of community and inclusivity, which is refreshing. I appreciate the diverse range of users and the genuine connections I’ve made. It feels less like a dating app and more like a social platform where I can meet new friends and potential partners alike.
SCRUFF offers a free version that provides access to most of its features, but for those looking for an enhanced experience, there’s a premium subscription available. The premium version unlocks additional features such as unlimited profile views, advanced search options, and the ability to see who has viewed your profile. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the value it adds to the overall experience. I opted for the premium subscription, and it has definitely enhanced my interactions on the app.
The SCRUFF team is proactive about updates and improvements. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and introduce new features, which keeps the app fresh and engaging. Additionally, their customer support is responsive and helpful. I once had a question about a feature, and I received a prompt reply from their support team, which made me feel valued as a user. It’s reassuring to know that the developers are committed to maintaining a high-quality experience.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using dating apps like SCRUFF. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic information, but I appreciated that SCRUFF allows users to control their visibility and privacy settings. You can choose who sees your profile and what information is shared.
SCRUFF also implements a photo verification process, which helps to mitigate the risk of catfishing and ensures that users are interacting with real people. This feature is particularly important in the online dating landscape, where safety concerns are prevalent. Additionally, the app does not bombard users with ads, which is a relief. Instead, it focuses on creating a user-friendly experience without intrusive tracking behavior. Overall, SCRUFF prioritizes user safety and privacy, making it a trustworthy option for those looking to connect in the LGBTQ+ community.

I was a paid subscriber for YEARS! Something happened to my profile, whether hacked or deleted, I dunno. Customer service slow to respond and incredibly unhelpful. The app itself isn't too bad, but good luck if anything ever happens to your account. Seriously the worst customer service for any paid subscription I have ever experienced! How difficult is it to find the profile of a paid subscriber?

The "currently online" feature almost never works correctly. In other words, someone's profile will show a green dot indicating that they are online, but then when you go to that profile it says that they've been offline for 2 hours or more. Also, the GPS function is oftentimes wrong. Sometimes a profile will show 2 miles away, when really they are 12 miles away, or vice versa.

It's probably one of the better apps amongst its niche, however a lot of quality functions are locked behind pay walls which makes it a little frustrating to use. I appreciate that the ads aren't horribly gratuitous though. This app is really good for just chatting with randos within an unknown distance. There's a good chance to meet some nice people on here but they're usually over a thousand miles away. Overall this app is hit or miss but not horrible. I look forward to its improvements.

App isn't bad. Does the job of finding people. I wish there were either a couple less features (like searching by your own preferences) not paywalled, or that the subscription wasn't so overpriced. I end up clicking on profiles over and over again just to find we aren't compatible. Match system also seems to suggest people who haven't been online in a long time, and makes it hard to find the full profile of these matches.

Another meaningless change. You can no longer check to see if the person you unlocked your album for still has theirs unlocked for you. Clicking on their picture used to bring up their profile which made it easy to see if they relocked or are still unlocked for you. Now it just brings you to your own profile. Update: moments are extremely buggy when trying to upload an image.
