Real Experience Using "The NBC App - Stream TV Shows"

Application Scenarios

As a busy professional and a parent, my days are often packed with work commitments and family activities. The NBC App has seamlessly integrated into my daily routine. For instance, during my morning commute, I often catch up on episodes of "The Blacklist" that I missed the night before. The ability to download episodes for offline viewing means I can enjoy my favorite shows without worrying about Wi-Fi availability on the subway. Additionally, on weekends, my family and I gather around the TV to watch live sports events, and the app allows us to stream these games directly, making it a central part of our family bonding time.

User Experience

The user interface of the NBC App is intuitive and visually appealing. Navigating through the app feels smooth, with well-organized categories that make finding content a breeze. I appreciate the personalized recommendations based on my viewing history, which often leads me to discover new shows I might not have considered otherwise. The performance is generally reliable, with minimal buffering during live streams, which is crucial when I’m trying to catch a game or a live event. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive; the app feels like a well-thought-out platform that caters to my viewing habits and preferences.

Pricing

The NBC App is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for budget-conscious viewers. However, to unlock certain features, such as ad-free viewing and access to premium content, users can opt for a subscription. This tiered pricing model allows flexibility, catering to both casual viewers and those who want the full NBC experience without interruptions.

Updates & Support

The NBC App is regularly updated, which is evident in the new features and improvements I’ve noticed over time. The support team is responsive, and I’ve had a positive experience when reaching out for assistance with minor issues. The app also provides helpful FAQs and troubleshooting tips, making it easy to resolve common problems without needing to contact support directly.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and the NBC App does a commendable job in this regard. Available on both the App Store and Google Play, it ensures that users can download it from trusted sources. Upon registration, the app requires basic personal data, such as an email address, which is standard for streaming services. However, it’s essential to note that the app does display ads, and while they are generally relevant, there is some tracking behavior involved to tailor these ads to user preferences. Overall, I feel that the NBC App strikes a good balance between providing a personalized experience and maintaining user privacy, making it a reliable choice for streaming content.

You've gotta expect this "free! Free! FREE!!!" app would expect us to sit through a few ads, but they are way too many WAY too often, plus everything seems to be locked down. The only things that are free! Free! FREE!!! are short clips for shows you can't watch without paying for the premium package. I quickly deleted the app but I just know they're now gonna bombard me with emails that are also misleading (i.e. lying) so I'll have to block that, too. Why did I even think it would be different?

I downloaded the app to watch the most recent season of a series. Out of the 4 episodes I was able to watch, 2 of them were glitching like crazy making it difficult to follow the dialog. Trying to rewind near ad placement means you'll be watching all 6 ads again, and I was made to sign in again for each episode as well. But the worst part is that when you sign up they don't give you any information about the "credits" they use until you're all out of them and you can't refill them in any way.

As TV apps go, NBC is pretty well set up and easy to use, although it's a little glitchy. Sometimes there's a weird skipping ahead on shows. Sometimes there's no sound. I find that most of the time, if I close the app and reopen it, that usually resolves the problem. Once in a while, it seems to disconnect from my cable TV provider account, so I have to reconnect it. But I use the app a lot and am generally satisfied.

Keeps hanging up, way too slow. way too many ads. I would uninstall but it's the only way i can watch my show. it hangs up so much i can't even get through one episode. Update as of November 2019. This app is still absolutely horrible. Don't rewind 10 seconds or you'll have to watch 10 minutes worth of commercials. The app is constantly buffering, then you have to watch 10 more minutes of commercials. it will also start you off in some random spot in the middle of an episode.

The app goes down from time to time. When it does, it is can be down for a few minutes to days or even weeks before it gets fixed. This has been an on going problem for years. However, the app typically works for the most part and it is great. It has all my favorite shows from (now) most of my favorite networks. The comercial breaks can be a bit long. Typically during a 1-hour show, there are multiple (about 5 or so) commercial breaks with 3-7 seperate commercials each break.
