Enjoy unlimited cloud DVR storage, allowing you to record your favorite shows and watch them anytime. With a user-friendly interface, personalized recommendations, and the ability to stream on multiple devices, YouTube TV makes it easy to stay connected to your favorite content. Experience live TV without the hassle of cable subscriptions.

Features & Highlights

YouTube TV: Live TV & more is a robust streaming service that has quickly become a favorite for cord-cutters and TV enthusiasts alike. With its extensive channel lineup and user-friendly interface, it offers a compelling alternative to traditional cable. Here are some of its standout features:

  • Extensive Channel Lineup: YouTube TV boasts over 85 channels, including major networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. This means you can catch live sports, news, and your favorite shows all in one place. For instance, I recently tuned in to a live NFL game without any hassle, enjoying the thrill of real-time action.
  • Unlimited Cloud DVR: One of the most impressive features is the unlimited cloud DVR storage. You can record as many shows as you want and keep them for up to nine months. I often record multiple shows during the week and binge-watch them on weekends, making it perfect for my busy schedule.
  • Multiple User Profiles: YouTube TV allows you to create up to six user profiles, each with its own recommendations and watch history. This feature is a game-changer for families. My partner and I have our own profiles, so we can easily find our favorite shows without sifting through each other's preferences.
  • Easy-to-Use Interface: The app's interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making navigation a breeze. I appreciate how quickly I can find what I want to watch, whether it’s a live event or a recorded show. The search function is particularly helpful when I’m looking for something specific.
  • Live TV Streaming: YouTube TV offers seamless live streaming, which is essential for those who want to watch events as they happen. I recently enjoyed a live concert broadcast, and the streaming quality was excellent, with minimal buffering.

Real Experience Using "YouTube TV: Live TV & more"

Application Scenarios

As a busy professional and a sports enthusiast, I find myself using YouTube TV in various scenarios throughout my day. Mornings often start with catching up on the news while I prepare breakfast. The app’s live news channels provide me with the latest updates without needing to flip through multiple channels. During my lunch breaks, I sometimes watch recorded episodes of my favorite shows, which I’ve saved on the unlimited DVR. On weekends, I host friends for game nights, and YouTube TV becomes the centerpiece as we stream live sports events together. The ability to switch between channels effortlessly keeps everyone entertained.

User Experience

The user interface of YouTube TV is one of its strongest points. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that makes it easy to navigate. The home screen displays my recorded shows, live TV options, and personalized recommendations based on my viewing habits. I particularly enjoy the “Library” section, where I can quickly access all my saved content. The performance is generally smooth, with quick loading times and minimal buffering, even during peak hours. Overall, my experience has been positive, and I appreciate how the app adapts to my viewing preferences, making it feel personalized.

Pricing

YouTube TV offers a competitive pricing structure, starting at $72.99 per month. This includes access to a wide range of channels and the unlimited DVR feature, which is a significant advantage over many other streaming services. While it may seem a bit pricey compared to some alternatives, the value it provides with its extensive channel lineup and features justifies the cost for me.

Updates & Support

YouTube TV regularly updates its app to enhance user experience and add new features. I’ve noticed improvements in streaming quality and interface tweaks that make navigation even easier. The support team is responsive, and I’ve had a positive experience when reaching out for assistance. They provide helpful resources and FAQs on their website, which is a great way to troubleshoot common issues.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, including YouTube TV. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it is a legitimate source. When registering, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my email address and payment details. While this is standard for streaming services, I appreciate that YouTube TV has a clear privacy policy outlining how my data is used.

In terms of ads and tracking behavior, YouTube TV does display ads, but they are generally relevant to my interests. I’ve noticed that the app tracks my viewing habits to provide personalized recommendations, which enhances my experience. However, I am always cautious about how much data I share and regularly review my privacy settings to ensure my information remains secure.

Great for watching TV but thinking about other alternatives. The price is going from $72.99 to $82.99. Kind of a big jump and my wallet might not be able to sustain that. Email states rising cost of content and their investments in the quality of service. Well there better sure be a major update to the app in January after the costs go into effect since they'll be more revenue going into the app.

The phone app freezes all the time. I'm continuously restarting it only for it to freeze again. Edit: I'm updating this from 3 to 5 stars. The app has gotten a lot better. I haven't had any problems with freezing in a long time. I mostly use it with a very old (maybe 12 years old) chromecast. It's easy to operate with my phone as well as on my laptop. I also appreciate the updates to the live tv view in the phone app so we can see what's upcoming.

The subscription price is simply too high, especially when there are cheaper alternatives offering a very similar TV experience. What makes it even more frustrating is the commercials — whenever a program cuts to ads, the volume suddenly becomes MUCH louder than the actual show. It’s extremely annoying, especially at night. Unless you specifically need YouTube TV, there are better and less expensive options out there.

It's decent, but there are some major flaws, and I've only used it a few times. Mainly, there's no watch list. I've never seen a streaming app without a watch list. You can't just save a show to watch later. The only option is to add it to your library, which then records every single episode, on every single channel. There's no option to only save new episodes or only from 1 channel. So if you're watching a show it's going to give you 500 episodes rather than the 1 new one you want to watch.

Not my favorite Streaming Platform... Hate the Selections, Hate the Commercials!!! Mostly I Hate that if I loose my place in what I'm watching, I have to watch a brand new set of Commercials every single time I adjust the viewing placement. If it takes 5 attempts, then that's 5-6 entire commercial clusters I've had to endure!!! Seriously!!! Most of the time I give up after the second attempt and go watch something else.
