4.5 Bluesky is a social media platform that has been making waves for its unique approach to user interaction and content sharing. Here are some of its standout features:
As someone who juggles both personal and professional life, I found Bluesky to be an invaluable tool in various scenarios. For instance, during my morning commute, I often scroll through my feed to catch up on the latest trends in technology and design. The customizable feeds feature allows me to follow specific tags related to my interests, ensuring that I’m always in the loop. Additionally, I use Bluesky to connect with fellow freelancers in my industry. The community engagement tools, like discussion threads, have been instrumental in sharing insights and tips, making my work life more collaborative and enriching.
The user interface of Bluesky is sleek and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made it easy to find my way around. The feature workflow is seamless; posting updates, sharing content, and engaging with others feels natural and fluid. I particularly appreciate the enhanced privacy controls, which allow me to tailor my interactions based on my comfort level. Performance-wise, the app runs smoothly without any noticeable lag, even when I’m scrolling through a busy feed. Overall, my experience with Bluesky has been overwhelmingly positive, as it combines functionality with a user-friendly design.
Bluesky is currently free to use, which is a significant advantage for users looking to explore a new social media platform without financial commitment. The absence of a subscription model allows users to fully engage with the app’s features without worrying about hidden costs. This accessibility makes it an attractive option for anyone looking to diversify their social media experience.
The development team behind Bluesky is proactive in rolling out updates, ensuring that the app remains fresh and responsive to user feedback. I’ve noticed several enhancements since I started using it, including improved community tools and additional privacy features. Support is readily available through the app, with a dedicated help section that addresses common queries. I’ve reached out a couple of times, and the response was prompt and helpful, which adds to my overall satisfaction with the platform.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to social media. Bluesky is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility to its security measures. During the registration process, I was required to provide minimal personal data, which is a refreshing change from many other platforms that demand extensive information. This aligns with Bluesky’s commitment to user privacy.
Moreover, the app does not bombard users with ads, which is a significant relief. Instead, it focuses on organic content sharing and community engagement. I also appreciate the transparency regarding tracking behavior; Bluesky has clear policies in place that inform users about data usage and tracking, allowing me to make informed decisions about my online presence. Overall, Bluesky prioritizes user security and privacy, making it a trustworthy option in today’s digital landscape.

Need a way to remove unwanted followers since blocking doesn't do it (which it should), there's no way of making your account private (which there should be), and the spam accounts are really starting to roll in. Needs to stop refreshing feed and jumping to the top/most recent posts if away from the app for a bit. Should always pick up where you left off. You have the capability to refresh to the top of the feed if you want; forcing it is why I don't engage with FB and Instagram.

The app developers and execs tell us there are no algorithms, but after several friends have told me they don't see my posts in their feeds due to a certain subject material, I strongly disagree. Beyond this, the app does not function well at all. I follow a few hundred profiles, but when I go to see specific ones, they don't appear in my "Following" list. And they don't clear out the spam bots, so even though it shows I have over 10k followers, only a few hundred of them are actual people.

When the app works, it's great. But when it DOESN'T work, which is 80% of the time, I keep experiencing freezes, crashes, profiles not loading no matter how many times I back out and reopen it, and overall, the app just straight up doesn't work. It needs SEVERAL bugfixes before I would ever recommend using this over the website. At least the website functions more often than not compared to the app.

The mobile app has become highly unreliable and bug-ridden causing severe performance and availability issues. The latest version has become resource hungry and fails to load. "Not enough resources" is the error message. Granted, there are nonstop internet attacks by right-wing sources, but the latest version (1.120.0.940) error seems to be local app coding.

Edit: The login issue only rarely happens now. Too bad their new age verification (why??) doesn't work. App just sits on the splash screen. Original review: Unfortunately, the app frequently logs me out (every day or two), forcing me to re-enter my long password. It's very annoying. The mobile web browser site doesn't have this issue. In fact, I'm still logged in there, and that's after I've been using this app for months. The app is solid otherwise.
