4.2 My journey with the "PayPal - Pay, Send, Save" app began when I was looking for a reliable way to manage my finances and make transactions easier. One of the first scenarios I encountered was during a group trip with friends. We decided to rent a cabin for the weekend, and instead of collecting cash from everyone, I suggested using PayPal. Everyone quickly sent their share through the app, and it was a relief to see the funds arrive instantly. This experience highlighted how convenient PayPal is for group activities.
Another scenario was when I started freelancing. I needed a way to invoice clients and receive payments without the hassle of traditional banking. PayPal’s invoicing feature allowed me to create professional invoices in minutes. I could customize them with my branding and send them directly to clients. The ease of tracking payments and sending reminders made my life so much easier, allowing me to focus on my work rather than chasing payments.
The user interface of the PayPal app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation straightforward. The main dashboard displays my balance, recent transactions, and quick access to send or request money. I particularly appreciate the simplicity of the workflow; sending money is as easy as entering the recipient's email and the amount. The app also provides a smooth experience when linking my bank account and credit cards, ensuring I can fund my transactions without any hiccups.
Performance-wise, the app is responsive and rarely lags, even during peak usage times. I’ve noticed that updates are rolled out regularly, enhancing features and fixing bugs, which speaks to PayPal’s commitment to user experience. Overall, my feelings after using the app are overwhelmingly positive; it has become an essential tool in my daily life, simplifying how I manage my finances.
Using PayPal is generally free for personal transactions, especially when sending money from a linked bank account or PayPal balance. However, there are fees for certain transactions, such as receiving payments for goods and services or using a credit card. I appreciate the transparency in their pricing structure, as it allows me to plan my finances accordingly. Overall, the value I get from the app far outweighs any minor fees I might incur.
PayPal frequently updates its app to enhance functionality and security, which I find reassuring as a user. The support system is robust, with a comprehensive help center and responsive customer service. I once had a query regarding a transaction, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I received assistance through their chat feature. This level of support adds to my confidence in using the app for my financial transactions.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to financial apps, and PayPal does not disappoint. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During registration, I was required to provide personal information, including my name, email, and bank details, which is standard for financial services. However, I felt secure knowing that PayPal employs advanced encryption technologies to protect my data.
One concern I had was regarding ads and tracking behavior. PayPal does collect data to improve user experience and for marketing purposes, but I appreciate that they are transparent about this in their privacy policy. I have not noticed intrusive ads while using the app, which is a significant plus. Overall, I feel confident in PayPal’s commitment to safeguarding my information while providing a seamless financial experience.

Quick and easy payment sent digitally to a friend. So convenient and so quick! And without a fee which was really nice!!! *Edit* I still love PayPal since making my last review. I enjoy sending money to my friends quickly and without fees. The world we live in never comes without fees! Relish this time and this app! 😄 Who knows how long it will stay this way!

Functionally ok, deceptive and full of confusing data. Combines Credit and Debit card transactions when trying to view one card, doesn't display % back on some transactions though they may actually be calculated in the statement. Went through a chargeback due to fraud and the money showed credited and deducted about 5x across several months... overall very inconvenient for tracking payments.

app doesn't work anymore. if you try to go to credit, it reloads for about 5 minutes and then says unavailable. this has been going on for weeks. According to PayPal, somehow their app is a bank issue and nothing to do with them. synchrony bank rightfully blames PayPal. seems like both sides know it's a problem but no one has a solution so until it's fixed I don't recommend using PayPal at all. you can't view or pay for your transactions right now.

They did something to mess it up. I suspect they're trying to push PayPal users into new credit cards or debit systems to generate more revenue for PayPal, but actions that used to be simple and straightforward are now unnecessarily complicated. For example transferring my PayPal balance to my bank account used to be very straightforward, but now the setting is buried. I clicked on the wrong thing multiple times before I finally scrolled way down and found what I was looking for.

I've been with PayPal quite a while. as an online bank they are ok. HOWEVER . they do not seem to honor the rewards program that they offer. they are supposed to pay 5% back to you on certain purchases. I chose groceries. and I have spent over $400 in the past two months and they have not added the rewards compensation. I have sent 9 e mails without response. so I called today and I have to wait 2 days on call back while they investigate! it should not be this hard to collect what they offer!
