With features like instant messaging, video conferencing, and file sharing, Cisco Jabber empowers organizations to improve productivity and streamline workflows, making it an essential tool for modern workplaces.

Features & Highlights

Cisco Jabber is a powerful communication tool that integrates various functionalities to enhance collaboration in the workplace. Here are some of its standout features:

  • Unified Messaging: Cisco Jabber combines instant messaging, voice, and video calls into one platform. For instance, during a team project, I can quickly send a message to a colleague, switch to a video call for a more in-depth discussion, and share my screen to illustrate my points—all without leaving the app.
  • Presence Information: The app provides real-time presence status, allowing users to see if their colleagues are available, busy, or away. This feature is particularly useful when coordinating meetings; I can easily check if my teammates are free before sending a meeting invite.
  • Integration with Other Tools: Cisco Jabber seamlessly integrates with various productivity tools like Microsoft Outlook and Cisco Webex. I often use it to schedule meetings directly from my calendar, which saves me time and keeps everything organized in one place.
  • Multi-Device Support: Whether I’m on my desktop, tablet, or smartphone, Cisco Jabber allows me to stay connected across all devices. I can start a conversation on my laptop and continue it on my phone while commuting, ensuring I never miss a beat.
  • File Sharing: The app enables easy file sharing, which is essential for collaborative work. I frequently share documents and presentations with my team during discussions, making it easier to get feedback and make decisions on the fly.

Real Experience Using "Cisco Jabber"

Application Scenarios

As a remote worker, Cisco Jabber has become an integral part of my daily routine. I use it primarily for team meetings, quick check-ins, and project collaborations. For example, during a recent project launch, I relied on Jabber to coordinate with my team. We had a tight deadline, and the ability to quickly message each other, share files, and hold video calls made the process much smoother. I could easily check who was available for a quick chat, which helped us stay aligned and on track.

User Experience

The user interface of Cisco Jabber is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. The chat feature is straightforward, allowing me to send messages quickly. Video calls are high-quality, and I appreciate the option to share my screen, which is crucial during presentations. The performance is generally smooth, with minimal lag, even when I’m multitasking. Overall, my experience with Cisco Jabber has been positive; it feels like a reliable companion in my work life, helping me stay connected and productive.

Pricing

Cisco Jabber operates on a subscription-based pricing model, which can vary depending on the features and number of users. While it may seem a bit pricey compared to some free alternatives, the robust features and enterprise-level security make it worth the investment for businesses looking to enhance their communication. For individual users, it might be a bit of a stretch, but for teams, the cost is justified by the productivity gains.

Updates & Support

Cisco regularly updates Jabber to improve functionality and security, which is reassuring for users like me who prioritize data protection. The support team is responsive and helpful; I’ve reached out a couple of times with questions about features, and they provided prompt and informative responses. The availability of online resources and community forums also adds to the overall support experience, making it easy to find solutions to common issues.

Security & Privacy Review

When it comes to security and privacy, Cisco Jabber takes several measures to protect user data, which is crucial for American users concerned about data breaches. The app is available on official app stores like the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that users download a legitimate version. During registration, I was required to provide basic personal information, but I appreciated that the app does not ask for excessive data, which can often be a red flag.

Moreover, Cisco Jabber does not display ads, which is a significant plus for me. I dislike apps that track my behavior for advertising purposes, and Jabber respects user privacy in this regard. The app employs encryption for calls and messages, adding an extra layer of security that gives me peace of mind when discussing sensitive information. Overall, I feel confident using Cisco Jabber, knowing that my data is protected and my privacy is respected.

I have been using this app for almost 3 years and never had an issue until this most recent update. Now my app will not stay connected to the server for more than a couple minutes at a time. I have tried resetting it and deleting and re-downloading it and nothing helps. This really makes remote work difficult when this is your only option besides giving out your personal number.

It's ok when it works, but very glitchy. I have had several instances where the app is ringing but the screen doesn't recognize that a call is incoming so I can't answer. It will also cause the screen to black out sometimes when you're on a call so it's difficult to access other material that you need. The network search function is also pretty clunky - I've needed to transfer a call to a colleague and been unable to locate them by search based on their last name or extension.

Disconnects randomly for no apparent reason at the worst possible time. App requires you to exit and wait for "a while" to reconnect. The "a while" can be a minute or two or an hour or two, depending on Cisco's unreliable servers. The absolute worst one ... of every messaging app out there. After every update the app has only gotten worse. Terrible app that I only have installed because of work requirements. Downgraded to older version, turned off automatic updates. Connection Issue resolved.

Login is a bit confusing. I've had to reset the app after every call due to it freezing. Also, when I've completed a call there is no way to disconnect, I've had to rely on the party I've called to hang up for the call to disconnect, which again led to the app freezing. Some calls went automatically to speaker phone. These challenges are proving to be very frustrating as my employer has allowed some of the staff to work from home during these trying times, using a Samsung android phone.

You'd think Cisco could produce a strong app, but my experience hasn't been good. Soooo many dropped calls, bad connections, etc. None of which was due to poor reception/wifi. Sometimes I can access voicemails, sometimes I can't. Sometimes the app marks me as Away, even when I just got off the phone with someone 2 minutes ago... do better, be better
