With features like screen sharing, chat, and integration with other tools, Jitsi Meet offers a user-friendly experience for both personal and professional use. Its commitment to privacy and security ensures that conversations remain confidential, making it a popular choice for remote collaboration and virtual gatherings.

Features & Highlights

Jitsi Meet is a powerful video conferencing tool that stands out for its user-friendly interface and robust features. Here are some of the core highlights that make it a go-to choice for many users:

  • Open Source and Free: Jitsi Meet is completely free to use, and being open-source means that anyone can contribute to its development. This is particularly appealing for organizations looking to minimize costs while maintaining high-quality video conferencing capabilities.
  • No Account Required: One of the most convenient features is that you don’t need to create an account to start a meeting. This makes it incredibly easy to jump into a call without the hassle of registration, perfect for spontaneous meetings with friends or colleagues.
  • High-Quality Video and Audio: Jitsi Meet offers high-definition video and crystal-clear audio, which is essential for effective communication. I recently used it for a team meeting, and the quality was so good that it felt like everyone was in the same room, despite being miles apart.
  • Screen Sharing: The screen sharing feature is seamless and allows users to share their screens with just a click. During a recent project presentation, I was able to share my screen effortlessly, making it easy for my team to follow along with my slides.
  • End-to-End Encryption: Security is a top priority for Jitsi Meet, and its end-to-end encryption ensures that your conversations remain private. This is particularly important for sensitive discussions, such as client meetings or brainstorming sessions involving proprietary information.

Real Experience Using "Jitsi Meet"

Application Scenarios

My journey with Jitsi Meet began when the pandemic forced my team to transition to remote work. Initially, we were using various platforms, but I stumbled upon Jitsi Meet during a search for a more straightforward solution. I started using it for our weekly team check-ins, and it quickly became my go-to app for both work and personal use. Whether I’m catching up with friends over a virtual coffee or collaborating with colleagues on a project, Jitsi Meet has proven to be versatile and reliable.

User Experience

The user interface of Jitsi Meet is refreshingly simple and intuitive. Upon entering a meeting, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. The feature workflow is smooth; I could easily mute/unmute myself, turn my video on or off, and access the chat function without any confusion. Performance-wise, I experienced minimal lag, even with multiple participants, which is a significant plus. Overall, my feelings after using the app are overwhelmingly positive. It feels like a tool designed by users for users, and that’s evident in its functionality.

Pricing

One of the best aspects of Jitsi Meet is that it is completely free to use. There are no hidden fees or premium features that require payment, which is a breath of fresh air in a market often dominated by subscription models. This makes it accessible for everyone, from casual users to businesses looking to cut costs.

Updates & Support

Jitsi Meet is regularly updated, with new features and improvements being rolled out frequently. The support community is active, and I found it easy to access help through forums and documentation. While I haven’t encountered any major issues, knowing that there’s a robust support system in place gives me peace of mind as a user.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when choosing a video conferencing app. Jitsi Meet is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. The app does not require users to register or provide personal data, which is a significant advantage in today’s data-driven world. I appreciate that I can join meetings without sharing my email or phone number, making it a more private experience.

Moreover, Jitsi Meet does not display ads or engage in tracking behavior, which is a relief compared to many other free services. The end-to-end encryption feature ensures that my conversations remain confidential, which is crucial for both personal and professional discussions. Overall, Jitsi Meet prioritizes user privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for anyone concerned about security.

Pretty solid video call app. Love that it's open source and that you can invite anyone from just a link. Only issue I have with it is that if I host a group call, the first person to join will turn into a black screen after another person joins. I can only hear them, the video just isn't there. Seems to only happen to the first person that joins, the other people remain unaffected

I really enjoy this app since Hangouts is gone. It's really important to us to be able to have multiple people screen sharing at once. I only have one real issue. Sometimes when I hang up to leave the call, it'll keep repeatedly adding me back to the call. Hanging up doesn't work and closing all apps doesn't work. It's really frustrating because I would like to leave the call as soon as I hit the hang up button.

I have been the biggest jitsi advocate for the past 3 years and have used it for everything from personal calls to big meetups, to business communication. Now im sorry to say the app is basically unusable. The new moderator requirements mean that I have to login, and jitsi cannot communicate with my (Firefox) browser. Ive tried everything but I might have to throw in the towel, the ease of use has been diluted so much it makes it hard to recommend.

The App worked great until today when myself and 3 others couldn't get on our meeting page. The spinning wheel of death just kept spinning and not connecting. we tried Uninstalling and reinstall but to no avail. We have been meeting for 4 years with no issues.

I’ve noticed that the Polls feature is missing in the Android app. In the desktop version and in the browser, there is a Polls tab available inside the chat where meeting participants can create and answer polls. However, in the Android mobile app I cannot find this option anywhere in the interface.
