Features & Highlights

Sling: Employee Scheduling App is a powerful tool designed to simplify the often complex task of managing employee schedules. As someone who has used this app extensively, I can confidently say that it offers a range of features that cater to both employers and employees alike. Here are some of the core features that stand out:

  • Intuitive Scheduling Interface: The drag-and-drop scheduling feature allows managers to easily create and adjust shifts. For instance, when a last-minute absence occurs, I can quickly reassign shifts to ensure coverage without the hassle of back-and-forth communication.
  • Real-Time Notifications: Employees receive instant notifications about schedule changes, which helps keep everyone on the same page. I remember a time when I had to change a shift for a team member; they received a notification immediately, allowing them to adjust their plans without any confusion.
  • Time Tracking: The built-in time clock feature enables employees to clock in and out directly through the app. This has been a game-changer for our team, as it eliminates the need for manual time sheets and reduces errors in payroll processing.

Real Experience Using "Sling: Employee Scheduling App"

Application Scenarios

As a manager at a busy restaurant, I often find myself juggling multiple tasks, and scheduling is one of the most critical. I started using Sling to manage our team’s shifts, and it has transformed the way we operate. For example, during peak holiday seasons, I can quickly create a schedule that accommodates everyone’s availability while ensuring we have enough staff on hand. The app allows me to see who is available at a glance, making it easy to fill shifts without the usual chaos of phone calls and texts.

User Experience

The user interface of Sling is clean and intuitive, which makes it easy to navigate even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. I appreciate the visual layout of the schedule, which allows me to see the entire week at a glance. The workflow for creating shifts is straightforward; I can drag and drop employees into their respective slots, and the app automatically updates their notifications. Performance-wise, I’ve experienced minimal lag, even during peak usage times. Overall, my experience with Sling has been overwhelmingly positive, as it has significantly reduced the time I spend on scheduling and improved team communication.

Pricing

Sling offers a free version that includes basic scheduling features, which is perfect for small teams. However, for larger organizations or those needing advanced features like time tracking and team messaging, the premium version is available at a reasonable monthly fee. I found the pricing to be competitive compared to other scheduling apps, especially considering the value it brings to our operations.

Updates & Support

The Sling team is proactive about updates, regularly rolling out new features and improvements based on user feedback. I’ve noticed enhancements in the messaging feature and the overall performance of the app. Customer support is also commendable; I had a question about a scheduling issue, and their response was prompt and helpful. It’s reassuring to know that there’s a dedicated support team ready to assist when needed.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that handles employee data. Sling is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic information, such as my name and email, but I appreciated that they don’t ask for excessive personal data. The app does not display ads, which is a relief, and I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior. Overall, I feel confident that Sling takes user privacy seriously, making it a trustworthy choice for employee scheduling.

Easily the worst app I've ever used. It's slow to load, notifications are unreliable, some text fields are completely blank when they should clearly display a yes or no value, and text input fields only show one line at a time while typing. The UI feels outdated. This app is a disappointment — it shouldn't even be in beta; it should still be in active development. I'd give zero stars if I could.

Despite it mostly working fine on my iPad, this app runs very poorly on my Samsung S25. After countless updates applied, stability worsened; notifications won't work after a week, and the whole app crashes while viewing messages and my shifts. Clearing data and cache only works for a bit then it's back to bugging out. And the buttons for putting my shift up makes the text unreadable.

works okay, but trying to scroll through the shift calendar only goes up in dates, even if I swipe to try and move it left, it turns right. I also hardly ever get notifications, which is a pain whenever shift leads message me about shifts and important events. (edit) after a couple of months it has just gotten worse. I still do not receive notifications and now I cannot even open conversations. it also takes forever to load in general, and I do not have a weak device.

Hit or miss. Mostly miss On Android it's just a nightmare. The code is extremely temperamental. One update works okay. The next one, you can't upload images. Then they fix that and you don't get notifications anymore. Then it kept signing us out randomly all the time. I've had it for about a month and it is broken more often than it works. Currently I can't attach photos again which is very important for my job. Works fantastic on Apple devices. So if that's an option for you do that.

This app is severely neglected on Android. I use it for work and it's just not reliable. From calendar syncs, to notifications, to having to constantly refresh the feed. Not to mention if your connection is spotty or you're switching onto or off of wifi, it'll spam several little sliders to let you know. It uses a lot of battery for how little I get out of it.
