4.6 The American Airlines app is a powerful tool for travelers, offering a range of features designed to enhance the flying experience. Here are some of the core highlights that make this app stand out:
As a frequent traveler for both work and leisure, the American Airlines app has become an essential part of my travel routine. I often find myself using the app in various scenarios, from booking flights to managing my itinerary. For example, just last month, I had to book a round-trip flight for a conference. I opened the app during my lunch break, quickly searched for flights, and completed my booking in under ten minutes. The ability to access my boarding pass and check flight statuses while on the go has made my travel experience much smoother.
The user interface of the American Airlines app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. The main features are easily accessible, and I appreciate how quickly I can move from one section to another. The performance is generally smooth, with minimal loading times, which is crucial when I’m in a hurry. I particularly enjoy the personalized dashboard that highlights my upcoming flights and any relevant notifications. Overall, my experience with the app has been positive, as it consistently meets my needs and enhances my travel experience.
The American Airlines app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for travelers. While there are no direct costs associated with the app itself, users should be aware that flight prices can vary based on demand and timing. The app often features exclusive deals and promotions, making it a valuable tool for finding competitive fares. I’ve saved money on several occasions by booking through the app during promotional periods.
American Airlines regularly updates the app to improve functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed enhancements in the booking process and the addition of new features over time. The support section is comprehensive, offering FAQs and direct access to customer service. I once had a question about my flight, and the response time was impressively quick. The app also provides updates on new features, ensuring that users are always informed about the latest improvements.
When it comes to security and privacy, the American Airlines app takes several measures to protect user data. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. During the registration process, I was required to provide personal information, including my name, email address, and phone number. This information is essential for managing bookings and receiving updates, but I appreciate that the app emphasizes data protection.
In terms of ads and tracking behavior, I have not encountered intrusive advertisements while using the app. It appears that American Airlines focuses on providing a streamlined experience without overwhelming users with ads. However, like many apps, it does collect data to enhance user experience and personalize services. Overall, I feel confident in the app's commitment to security and privacy, making it a reliable choice for travelers.

Absolutely the worst airline app I've used. Flight details in the app are non-existent, you have to go to the mobile website to get any info. Other apps at least link to their mobile site. Worse, the app stops working if you don't use it for a few days. The last couple trips I have had on AA I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app just to check in and get my boarding pass, even on separate legs of the same trip. AA is horrible all around as an airline, and they live down to that here.

The app works pretty well, with a few gotchas. First, it helps to have your AAdvantage "number" and password handy - then you'll need to two-factor at least once. The app made me do it twice, because I didn't have my confirmation code handy, so I timed out and had to re-authenticate. After all that, it was able to locate my info and even alerted me to a delayed flight, so I'd say it worked as expected after some setup. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do this before you get to the airport!!!

A lot of unexpected errors when trying to sign up for touchless TSA. I have been getting a "something went wrong error " when trying to look at promotions for a few months now. No signs of these issues being fixed. It would be great if it was easier to see how long the flight is and time on the ground for connections.

Information for your flight is spread out in at least three different places. There is no single screen in this app that will tell you everything you need to know, you will be clicking through menus on the "Trips" tab and still need to click the "Home" tab to actually find out when boarding begins, for instance. Why can't all of the basic, useful information be displayed on one page? We may never know. The app check-in button is purely decorative, in my experience.

There are numerous tiles that don't work, get the message about, "having trouble with this function, try later." Most seem to be in the Adavantage section of the App. At a minimum, the rewards and promotions tiles don't work. Android 16 with all the latest updates, deleted and reinstalled the app, but same errors. There may be other things that don't work, but it's not my job to troubleshoot the app.
