4.5 As a frequent traveler, I often find myself using the Southwest Airlines app in various scenarios. One of the most common situations is when I’m planning a spontaneous weekend getaway. Just last month, I decided to visit a friend in another state. I opened the app, quickly searched for available flights, and booked my ticket in under five minutes. The app’s user-friendly interface made it easy to compare flight times and prices, ensuring I got the best deal.
Another scenario where the app shines is during travel days. I typically arrive at the airport early to avoid any last-minute rush. While waiting, I use the app to check my flight status and receive real-time updates. On one occasion, I was notified of a gate change while I was grabbing a bite to eat. Thanks to the app, I was able to adjust my plans and make it to the new gate on time without any panic.
The user interface of the Southwest Airlines app is clean and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a dashboard that displays my upcoming trips, flight status, and quick access to booking options. The workflow is straightforward; I can easily switch between booking flights, checking in, and accessing my Rapid Rewards account.
Performance-wise, the app is responsive and rarely crashes, which is a significant plus for me. I appreciate how quickly it loads, even when I’m connected to slower airport Wi-Fi. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive. It feels like a reliable travel companion that enhances my flying experience, allowing me to focus on enjoying my trips rather than stressing over logistics.
Using the Southwest Airlines app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for travelers. The app does not charge any additional fees for booking flights or checking in, which is a refreshing change compared to some other airline apps. The only costs incurred are for the flights themselves, which are competitively priced, especially when booked in advance. Additionally, the app often features exclusive deals and promotions, making it a cost-effective choice for budget-conscious travelers.
Southwest Airlines regularly updates the app to enhance user experience and introduce new features. I’ve noticed improvements in the booking process and the addition of new customer support options over time. The support section is particularly helpful, offering FAQs and live chat options for immediate assistance. Whenever I’ve had questions or needed help, I’ve found the support team to be responsive and knowledgeable, which adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any travel app, including the Southwest Airlines app. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, such as my name, email address, and phone number, which is standard for travel apps.
One aspect I appreciate is the app’s commitment to protecting user data. Southwest Airlines has a clear privacy policy that outlines how they handle personal information, and I have not encountered any intrusive ads or excessive tracking behavior while using the app. The app also offers secure payment options, which gives me peace of mind when booking flights. Overall, I feel confident that my personal information is safe while using the Southwest Airlines app, allowing me to focus on my travel plans without worry.

Barely does the job. when you check in, it doesn't retain the flight info most of the time. Manage reservations? blank. You have to enter it again. If you leave the app and come back, it often resets everything or wastes time reloading. These issues have persisted for years. And now, if you change your seat, it doesn't change on your boarding pass or even the info screen. So, what seat do I have? It's almost better just using their web page than this mess.

terrible app. I am trying to just see my boarding pass when I am getting on a plane, should be simple right? Yet somehow this simple task is requiring me to recheck in each time, and just overall cumbersome to use. Then on top of that, I get pop up ads to buy more of your terrible flight service? I already paid you and you still gotta do that just to inconvenience people who already paid you? Never again.

App works properly, great to have when flying. Can track your flight and see your boarding pass. If you're flying Southwest, download the app. Would recommend. The only reason I deducted a star is that they canceled my flight and I never got an email telling me. If I hadn't been flying with 17 other individuals, I wouldn't have known to check my app or website. It just disappeared from my account like it was never there. The only way I knew, was by entering my confirmation #.

Checking bags is the worst. It's bad enough southwest doesn't give me free checked bags anymore, but they made adding checked bags very cumbersome and not user friendly. It's not easy to find where to add a checked bag, and then when I do find it it asks me to sign in. In the app. That I'm already signed into. And since I'm already in the app I can't look up my number to log in again. The other plane apps make adding checked bags very easy. Southwest needs to make it easier, too.

Frustrated that there's been no improvement to Flight Status. Idk why companies think they always have to change apps and so often, they're worse. You used to be able to delete recent searches, but now they just stack up without being able to get rid of ones you no longer need. On top of no demarcation between, like they're used to be (much more esthetically pleasing in the old format). On top of that, when you initially Submit, the info is NOT updated. You have to refresh the page every time.
