3.2 Arlo Secure: Home Security is packed with features that make it a standout choice for anyone looking to enhance their home security. Here are some of the core highlights that I found particularly useful:
As a busy professional, I often find myself away from home for extended periods. The Arlo Secure app has become an essential part of my daily routine. For instance, I frequently travel for work, and during these trips, I rely on the app to keep an eye on my home. One time, while I was away, I received a notification about unusual movement in my backyard. I quickly opened the app, accessed the live feed, and saw a raccoon rummaging through my trash. Thanks to the app, I was able to laugh it off instead of worrying about a potential intruder.
Another scenario where the app shines is during family gatherings. When hosting friends and family, I often use the two-way audio feature to greet guests at the door without having to leave the kitchen. It’s a small but effective way to manage the flow of visitors while ensuring everyone feels welcomed.
The user interface of the Arlo Secure app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean dashboard that displays all my connected cameras. Navigating through the features is seamless; I can easily switch between live feeds, access recorded footage, and adjust settings with just a few taps. The performance has been impressive as well; the live stream loads quickly, and the video quality is consistently high, even in low-light conditions.
One of my favorite aspects of the app is the customization options. I can set specific zones for motion detection, which helps minimize false alerts. The overall experience has left me feeling secure and in control of my home’s safety, which is invaluable in today’s world.
Arlo Secure offers a variety of pricing plans to suit different needs. The basic plan is free and includes essential features, but for those who want advanced functionalities like cloud storage and AI detection, the premium plans start at a reasonable monthly fee. I opted for the mid-tier plan, which provides ample storage and additional features, making it a worthwhile investment for my peace of mind.
Arlo is committed to improving its app and regularly rolls out updates that enhance functionality and security. I’ve noticed several updates since I started using the app, each bringing new features and improvements. The customer support is also commendable; I had a minor issue with my camera setup, and their support team was quick to respond and provided clear instructions to resolve the problem. This level of support adds to my overall satisfaction with the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to home security apps. Arlo Secure is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary standards for app security. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, which is standard for most apps. However, I appreciate that Arlo is transparent about how they use this data, and I have not encountered any intrusive ads or tracking behavior while using the app.
Moreover, Arlo Secure employs end-to-end encryption for video streams, which gives me confidence that my footage is secure from unauthorized access. Overall, I feel that Arlo takes user privacy seriously, making it a trustworthy choice for anyone looking to enhance their home security.

subscription is way overpriced. started 4.00 a month and now it's like 10. want to check and see if there was an event and it stopped recording back in January. check the app and it was set to home and not away so some ways along the line when it updated it changed all my settings. I've had nothing but trouble so stay away! Going to get one that doesn't require a ripoff subscription.

The hardware used to be among the better options available, with a terrible app and software and very hit-and-miss on smart alerts. I have paid for the subscription for years (because I want the features) and the activity zones have never once done anything. I still receive motion alerts outside every activity zone on every camera I own, which is more than 10 cameras, I'm not sure the point of it! It's unfortunate, I used to be a fan, but this now feels like a brand on the way out!

the app freezes and doesn't give alerts for a large portion of the time. The cameras don't pick up motion a large majority of the time without me going and waving at them repeatedly. None of the "troubleshooting" options does anything to help. They are trying to force a subscription to make the system work correctly. As a whole, the product is awful and very untrustworthy. I wouldn't trust it with your safety, I know my family doesn't anymore!!!!

This has got to be one of the biggest failures Arlo has done. I have had their service and cameras since the beginning. This recent UI update had made it to were my system no longer records as it should when on a schedule. Granted if all your cameras are being turned on and off by the mode only it will work. But I have my entire system set to a schedule. To arm and unarm depending on the day, time, and camera location. With any automation added the new UI system is a complete failure.

Total pain to simply set 2 cameras to record after sunset until sunrise. You have to configure all 7 (or however many you have) cameras in two separate "modes" changing motion detection on/off only for the two you want to switch. Then assign one schedule to enable one mode at sunset and another schedule to enable the other mode at sunrise. O...M...F...G!
