3.8 Autotrader: Shop Cars For Sale is a powerful app that simplifies the car-buying process, making it easier for users to find their dream vehicle. Here are some of its standout features:
As someone who frequently finds myself in need of a reliable vehicle, I often turn to the Autotrader app during my car search. Recently, I was in the market for a family-friendly SUV. I started my search on a Saturday morning while sipping coffee at home. The app's user-friendly interface made it easy to browse through various listings. I could quickly filter my search by price, mileage, and even specific features like all-wheel drive. By the end of the day, I had saved several listings that caught my eye, making it easy to revisit them later.
The user interface of Autotrader is sleek and intuitive, which I appreciated as a first-time user. The home screen presents a clean layout with easy navigation options. I found the search bar prominently displayed, allowing me to jump right into my car hunt. The workflow is seamless; after selecting a car, I could view detailed information, photos, and even contact the seller directly without any hassle. Performance-wise, the app was responsive, with quick loading times and no crashes during my usage. Overall, my experience was positive, and I felt empowered to make informed decisions about my potential purchases.
Autotrader is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for budget-conscious users like myself. While the app does offer premium features, such as enhanced listings for sellers, I found that the basic functionalities were more than sufficient for my needs. I appreciated that I could access a wealth of information without any upfront costs, making it an excellent resource for anyone looking to buy a car.
The app is regularly updated, which is crucial for maintaining a smooth user experience. I noticed that new features and improvements were rolled out frequently, enhancing the overall functionality. Additionally, the customer support team is responsive and helpful. I had a minor issue with a listing, and when I reached out for assistance, I received a prompt and informative reply, which left me feeling valued as a user.
When it comes to security and privacy, Autotrader takes several measures to protect its users. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, but I appreciated that the app clearly outlined how my data would be used. There are no intrusive ads, and I did not notice any excessive tracking behavior while using the app. This focus on user privacy is reassuring, especially for American users who are increasingly concerned about data security.
In conclusion, Autotrader: Shop Cars For Sale is a robust app that caters to anyone looking to buy a vehicle. With its extensive inventory, advanced search features, and user-friendly interface, it has become my go-to resource for car shopping. Whether you're a first-time buyer or a seasoned car enthusiast, this app is worth downloading.

This app is terrible if you are selling something. It's constantly telling me I have unread messages making me think someone is reaching out! Constantly getting messages from people trying to scam me! When I block and report I can't delete so the app says I need to respond to them still! It freezes non-stop and they don't tell you all the invasive hoops you have to jump through like giving up personal data to third party companies, ID photos etc .. I should be able to briefly pause a listing

I have used Autotrader for years, both to buy and sell vehicles. This latest update... Makes the experience horrible! Quick note to Autotrader- This is how you lose people forever! There's a lot of competition out there, and if this isn't fixed soon, I'll just figure out what other thing works reasonably well for me. And once I figure that out, why ever come back.?

Log in doesn't work, logs you into an external browser, so this is essentially useless. Might as well just browse on the mobile website. I otherwise really like the app layout. It's just a shame I can't use it to save searches. Edit 1: "Autotrader, Inc. August 3, 2021 You can now save searches and vehicles without logging in or creating an account. Login is now available in the latest version (4.1) of the app. Tap the "More..." button and you will see login at the top of the screen. Once logged in, you will have access to both your previous and new saves and you will stay logged in. We hope this helps." This essentially reads as "yes, our app is broken, BUT it's not as broken as it could be. Also, that thing you just said doesn't work? Well it does work! Just do what you already did and things will be different!" Except that they're not. Nothing has changed. Here's the thing, y'all. You can only save so many searches when not logged in, and when you're looking for a car on a budget, you save everything that you can. I maxed out my saves in a matter of minutes. I should just be able to log in like normal (which I cannot, as I mentioned in the initial post). A more helpful response would be, "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We'll actually just work on the thing you're concerned about rather than deflect and ignore your actual concern." Droppin' a star for that. You've been a household name for decades, guys. You can do better than this.

The app never applies filters, it lies when sorting vehicles, and it is filled with fake listings. Despite the filters available in the app, it never actually applies them. If you search for a 2012-2017 vehicle, it will populate the top results with new 2019 models, amd sprinkle 2018 and 2019 listings in the results. Also sorting by anything doesnt work - it always puts the entire set of sponsored listings first, then premium, and then basic. Dealers pay more for the higher listings.

Ever since the search bar function update the app has become. Unusable. The drop down menus from before were easy to navigate and a pleasure to use. The new search bar function doesn't work very well, and it's hard to find what you're looking for. It's also a hard search bar to use as far as clicking on it and typing in it. Please add an option to use the drop down menus again on the main screen. The worst joke is how the first screen says it's easier but then makes it much harder to find cars.
