3.5 As a frequent traveler and commuter, I often find myself in situations where I need to refuel or charge my vehicle. One particular instance was during a weekend getaway with friends. We were driving through a remote area when I realized my fuel was running low. I quickly opened the Shell app, and within seconds, I found the nearest Shell station. Not only did it save us from a potential roadside emergency, but it also allowed us to enjoy our trip without the stress of searching for fuel.
Another scenario was when I was running late for work. I had just enough time to stop for gas, but I didn’t want to waste time waiting in line. Thanks to the app’s payment integration, I was able to select my pump, pay directly through the app, and be on my way in no time. This feature has truly streamlined my refueling process, making it more efficient and less stressful.
The user interface of the Shell app is clean and intuitive, making navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a dashboard that displays my nearest Shell stations, current fuel prices, and any ongoing promotions. The layout is user-friendly, and I appreciate how quickly I can access the features I need.
In terms of performance, the app runs smoothly without any noticeable lag. I’ve never encountered any crashes or bugs, which is a significant plus. The workflow for finding a station, selecting a pump, and making a payment is seamless. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel it enhances my driving experience significantly.
The Shell app is free to download and use, which is a fantastic benefit for users. While there are no hidden fees associated with the app itself, users should be aware that fuel prices may vary by location and time. However, the rewards program allows users to save money on fuel purchases, making it a cost-effective tool for regular Shell customers.
Shell frequently updates the app to enhance user experience and introduce new features. I’ve noticed improvements in the rewards program and the addition of new payment options over time. Customer support is readily available through the app, and I’ve found their response times to be quick and helpful. This level of support gives me confidence in using the app regularly.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that involves financial transactions. The Shell app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications.
When registering for the app, users are required to provide some personal data, such as an email address and payment information. However, Shell has implemented robust security measures to protect this data, including encryption and secure payment gateways. I appreciate that the app does not bombard me with ads, and it appears to limit tracking behavior, which is a significant concern for many users today.
Overall, my experience with the Shell app has been positive, and I feel secure using it for my fuel and charging needs. The combination of convenience, efficiency, and security makes it a valuable tool for anyone who frequently visits Shell stations.

This app is incredibly frustrating due to the redundant sign-on requirements. It’s never clear which password belongs to the Fuel Rewards program versus the Shell app itself. Even as a tech-savvy user, I found the interface so confusing that I gave up after four attempts and took my business elsewhere. The login process needs a major overhaul.

Horrible! It's the only app I could add gas on immediately. What a mistake. I should have refined the stuff myself. Plus there's only 3 or 4 shells around here. Two didn't take them, one is unmanned. I tried to add another 100, and it wouldn't add it.. I had to call for a refund.. That was 2days ago. It's October 13th. No refund.

Doesn't work for Shell, formerly Volta, stations. It says they are occupied. Chargepoint correctly shows them available. Too bad I didn't realize this until I had to leave without getting any charge on what was a free station which used to be plug and play under Volta. They also don't recognize + in email which I use for filtering. Absolute garbage.

If 0 stars was possible, you'd see it. 100% unnecessary to have 2 apps (FR & Shell) just to do anything. No matter what, your freshly signed up account info will not log you in. The mess began when I ended up with a gift card to use for gas. Way more trouble than its worth. I called "support" on 2 different days for 20+ mins each right at their opening time & 0 accountability for the unnecessary frustrating nonsense process. Gave up & posted my gift card free to anyone who's already a user.0/10

I tried the option to pay through the app. Even though my fuels reward account is tied to this app, it did not give me my rewards discount, show up as a purchase towards maintaining my membership status, or even register in the app's transaction history log. I put in a help request on this issue, but after several days, I have not received a response. I have been a Shell fuels rewards member for a number of years, it is troubling to see the loss in customer service.
