4.7 My journey with the Kasa Smart app began when I decided to upgrade my home into a smart home. The first scenario that comes to mind is my morning routine. Every day, I wake up to the soft glow of my Kasa smart bulb, which gradually brightens to mimic a sunrise. This gentle wake-up call has transformed my mornings, making them far more pleasant. Additionally, I use the app to control my smart plugs for my coffee maker. I set it to start brewing at 6:30 AM, so I can wake up to the aroma of fresh coffee.
Another scenario is when I host friends for movie nights. I can dim the lights and set the mood with just a few taps on my phone. The ability to create different scenes has made entertaining so much easier and more enjoyable. Plus, when I’m away from home, I can turn on the lights to give the illusion that someone is home, enhancing my security.
The Kasa Smart app boasts a clean and intuitive user interface that makes navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a dashboard displaying all my connected devices, which I can control with a single tap. The setup process for new devices is straightforward, and I appreciate the step-by-step guidance provided. Each feature flows seamlessly into the next, whether I’m scheduling a device or checking energy usage.
Performance-wise, the app is reliable and responsive. I’ve experienced minimal lag when controlling devices, which is crucial when I’m in a hurry. The overall feeling after using the app is one of empowerment; I feel in control of my home environment, and the convenience it offers has significantly improved my daily life.
Kasa Smart offers a range of devices at various price points, making it accessible for different budgets. The app itself is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage. While some devices can be a bit pricey, the investment is worth it for the convenience and energy savings they provide. I’ve found that the long-term savings on my energy bills often offset the initial costs.
The Kasa Smart app receives regular updates, which often include new features and improvements based on user feedback. I’ve noticed enhancements in device compatibility and performance over time. The customer support is also commendable; I once had a question about setting up a new device, and their support team responded promptly with helpful guidance. This level of support gives me confidence in my investment in Kasa products.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using smart home technology. The Kasa Smart app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, but I appreciated that the app clearly outlines how this data is used and stored.
One concern I had was regarding ads and tracking behavior. Fortunately, Kasa Smart does not bombard users with ads, which is a relief. The app does collect usage data to improve functionality, but I found their privacy policy transparent and reassuring. Overall, I feel secure using the Kasa Smart app, knowing that my personal information is handled responsibly.

We've been using the app for some time, but something odd happened today: I got a motion notification, and when I opened the app, there was an ad wedged in between the quick functions and the device list. We've never seen this before, and even the app description states there's no ads. Not sure if there was a glitch, an oversight, or some hacking/hijack attempt, but we find it a little unsettling. 3 stars because it works fairly well, but recent events makes us explore our options.

I use this app to access my camera at home. I'm not able to zoom in closely in anything it's just a blur. I would enjoy this app more if there were more options. example: more variety of options that trigger (motions/sounds) for the camera to start to record. and a faster way to to access clips from hours/days prior to real time. like maybe have it set up in a "grid like" for clips to be more accessible..

I moved into my house in 2019 and spent a lot of time researching different Wireless light options, I tested a handful of the Kasa light switches in my house and they worked well so I rolled them out throughout the whole house. In total I have 46 Kasa devices, all but one are still working perfectly. And the one that stopped working went out due to a lightning strike. If you're concerned about having these on your Wi-Fi network, do what I did and stand up a separate 2.4 GHz network.

At first I wasn't sure that I liked the light switches I purchased. But then I understood the app settings and it changed everything for me. I now can appreciate the app and settings. The Kasa switches are not the only ones I have. They are the ones I have in what I'll call critical areas. Kitchen, living room; places where the on/off feature can be overridden. I'll do an update in a few months. I really want to see how my electrical bill responds to automation.

Was working fine until last update. Now no matter which device I install, un install, clear data, clear cache, log out, log in, it freezes and doesn't work. One UI 8. One UI 8.5. Still doesn't work. The power strip it's controlling is for a reptile. Had to unplug and just use an old fashioned timer one. Not helpful.
