3.7 As a busy professional and a parent, my life is often a whirlwind of activities. One of the most common scenarios where I find myself reaching for the myQ app is during my daily commute. Picture this: I’m stuck in traffic, and my mind is racing with thoughts of what I need to do when I get home. Suddenly, I remember that I left the garage door open. Panic sets in, but then I pull out my phone, open the myQ app, and with a simple tap, I close the garage door from miles away. It’s a small but significant relief knowing that my home is secure.
Another scenario is when I have a service technician coming over to fix something in the house. Instead of giving them a key or waiting around for them to arrive, I simply send them a temporary access code through the app. This feature not only saves me time but also ensures that I maintain control over who enters my home.
The user interface of the myQ app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean dashboard that displays the status of my garage door. The layout is straightforward, making it easy to navigate through various features. I particularly appreciate the quick access buttons for opening and closing the door, which are prominently displayed for convenience.
In terms of performance, the app is reliable and responsive. I’ve experienced minimal lag when sending commands, and the real-time notifications are prompt, keeping me informed about the status of my garage door. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive. It has simplified my life and provided me with a sense of security that I didn’t know I needed.
The myQ Garage & Access Control app is free to download, which is a significant advantage for users looking to enhance their home security without breaking the bank. However, some advanced features may require a subscription, which is reasonably priced considering the convenience and peace of mind it offers. Overall, the value for money is excellent, especially for those who prioritize home security.
myQ regularly updates its app to improve functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed enhancements in the user interface and additional features that have been rolled out over time. The customer support is also commendable; I had a minor issue with the app once, and their support team was quick to respond and resolve my concern. This level of support adds to my overall satisfaction with the product.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to smart home applications. The myQ app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, but I appreciated that the app clearly outlines how this data will be used and stored.
One concern I had was regarding ads and tracking behavior. Fortunately, myQ does not bombard users with ads, which is a relief. The app focuses on functionality rather than monetization through advertisements. Additionally, I found that the app does not engage in excessive tracking, which is a significant plus for privacy-conscious users like myself. Overall, myQ Garage & Access Control prioritizes user security and privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for smart home management.

Well, it does work OK, but it's way too slow to start. Takes almost 10 seconds on my Pixel 8 Pro with a good internet connection, probably due to the GD ads (which sometimes hide to actual controls). Because of all the ads, I'll never buy one of the products, but I guess that doesn't bother them. Too bad, as the opener is very nice. But I'm only comparing it to old chain-drive openers from Sears, so maybe others are just as good.

Timestamps are 2 hours off and do not see a way to change it in the app. Everything else I have seems to change to the correct time. I wish there was a way to shut off the camera on the keypad for times when you don't want to record such as when you are working in your driveway and don't want to record several times of yourself working and using up battery needlessly. Also, the night vision needs help and only is useful when you are right up against the keypad.

5/17/25 update. The app won't open. It just stays on the blue screen with the spinning circle like it's loading, but never goes beyond that. I have not received notifications for the past few weeks. The app is up to date, my internet has not changed, and as far as I can tell it is connected. Please get this mess fixed. The whole reason we bought these openers was for the app capabilities, but this makes it useless at this point. We have no outdoor opener other than the ones in our vehicles.

The MyQ Panel and app are more of an enhanced remote than a reliable security tool. Notifications occur 3-7 minutes after the event (or later), which is not very helpful in responding to the event. Often, when I get a notification, I have to go back and look; was that me from 15 minutes ago or is there someone else in the drive? As a result I probably ignore notifications, which sort of defeats the purpose.

I've been a user of the MyQ system for a very long time. I guess you could say I'm an early adopter. Years and years ago it worked fantastically. In recent times it has gone downhill significantly. The app has gotten increasingly complicated and the most recent issue I've experienced is the app sometimes takes literally minutes to load and get to a point where you can toggle the garage door. if I wanted to wait minutes I would just go press the button. Chamberlain please bring back the simple ap
