4.3 The "OnStar Guardian: Safety App" is packed with features designed to enhance your safety and peace of mind. Here are some of the core highlights that make this app stand out:
As someone who frequently travels for work and enjoys weekend road trips, the "OnStar Guardian: Safety App" has become an essential part of my routine. One evening, while driving home from a late meeting, I noticed a car swerving dangerously on the highway. I quickly opened the app and used the emergency services feature to report the erratic driver. Within moments, I was able to provide the authorities with the vehicle's location, ensuring that they could intervene before anyone got hurt.
Another scenario occurred during a family camping trip. While hiking, my phone's battery was running low, and I wanted to ensure my family could track my location in case of an emergency. I activated the location-sharing feature, allowing my loved ones to see where I was in real-time. This not only gave them peace of mind but also made it easier for them to find me when I took a wrong turn on the trail.
The user interface of the "OnStar Guardian: Safety App" is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. The main dashboard displays all the essential features prominently, allowing me to access emergency services, location sharing, and roadside assistance with just a few taps. The app's performance has been smooth, with quick load times and no noticeable lag, even when I was in areas with spotty service.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the safety score. After a week of driving, I received a notification summarizing my driving habits, including hard braking and acceleration. This feedback has encouraged me to be more mindful on the road, and I find myself striving for a better score each week. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel more secure knowing I have these tools at my fingertips.
The "OnStar Guardian: Safety App" offers a subscription-based pricing model, which I found to be quite reasonable considering the range of features available. The app provides a free trial period, allowing users to explore its capabilities before committing to a monthly or annual plan. I opted for the monthly subscription, which fits my budget and gives me the flexibility to cancel if needed. The peace of mind it offers is worth every penny.
OnStar is committed to keeping the app updated with new features and improvements. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and address any bugs. The customer support team is responsive and helpful; I reached out once with a question about a feature, and they replied promptly with clear instructions. This level of support adds to my confidence in using the app regularly.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that deals with personal safety. The "OnStar Guardian: Safety App" is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my name, email, and phone number. This data is essential for the app's functionality, particularly for location sharing and emergency services.
Importantly, the app does not bombard users with ads, which is a significant plus in my book. I appreciate that my data is not being sold to third parties for advertising purposes. OnStar has a clear privacy policy that outlines how my information is used and protected, giving me confidence that my data is secure. Overall, I feel that the app strikes a good balance between functionality and privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for anyone looking to enhance their safety on the road.

I've been trying to cancel my recurring service with this app since I installed it but when I go into manage plans section it never connects. Just spins and spins. I;ve tried thru the app, through the browser in my phone and on my laptop, each several times. So be leary. Canceling will require you calling these people. And when I talked to Onstar from my car I was told to cancel in the app. Awesome. Not

Having multiple family members, at times, no one (on family members) will show. Othertimes it will be inaccurate at where they are and when they leave an area. Having updated the app and keeping my family updated on it also, at this point, seems a waste. Just keep the actual OnStar service with your vehicle...not this app currently.

I was charged for 6 months for an app subscription I never signed up for. It wasn't in my account. I contacted customer service and they told me to maybe call another department because they couldn't help me cancel a subscription I never had and doesn't show in my account. I had to dispute the charges and I'm hoping they stop charging now but after researching it seems this is a common practice at OnStar.

The idea behind this is good, but it cannot be configured to allow only limited access. I do not want it constantly running in the background or always accessing my information. We need to be able to select when we want it to be on and have access. Also, during setup, it keeps going forward when I want to backtrack and check something. Okay. I tried using it. First time in 4 years to need service and they can't locate my account! Pure garbage!

This used to be great. All of a sudden I get notifications that my subscription ended and we need to pay $15 to use even though I pay for premium On Star. I called for help and was told there are "no issues with the app and I should just "delete the app and log in again ". Based on other reviews there are clearly issues with the app. Get it together, On Star, and fix this. We pay a lot of money monthly for it not to work.
