4.5 As an avid nature enthusiast, I often find myself exploring various terrains, from rocky mountains to serene beaches. One sunny afternoon, while hiking in a local state park, I came across a peculiar stone that caught my eye. Instead of guessing its identity, I pulled out my phone and opened "Rock Identifier: Stone ID." With a quick photo, the app revealed that I had discovered a piece of granite, complete with details about its formation and common uses. This not only satisfied my curiosity but also enriched my understanding of the geological history of the area.
Another scenario occurred during a family trip to a national park. My kids were fascinated by the different rocks they found along the trails. Using the app, we turned our exploration into a fun learning experience. Each time they identified a new rock, I could see their excitement grow, and it sparked conversations about geology and the environment. The app transformed our casual outing into an educational adventure.
The user interface of "Rock Identifier: Stone ID" is one of its strongest points. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. The main screen features a prominent camera icon, inviting users to start identifying rocks immediately. I appreciated how the app categorizes rocks and minerals, allowing me to browse through different types if I wanted to learn more without needing to take a photo.
Performance-wise, the app is impressively quick. The identification process took mere seconds, and the information provided was both detailed and easy to understand. I found the descriptions to be well-written, with clear images and even some fun facts about each rock type. Overall, my experience was overwhelmingly positive; I felt like I had a personal geology expert in my pocket, ready to assist me at any moment.
"Rock Identifier: Stone ID" is free to download, which is a significant advantage for casual users. However, there are premium features available through in-app purchases. I opted for the premium version to unlock additional content and features, which I found to be reasonably priced considering the wealth of information and functionality it offers. The investment was well worth it for someone like me who frequently explores the outdoors.
The developers of "Rock Identifier: Stone ID" are proactive in providing updates, which is reassuring. I noticed that the app received a significant update shortly after I downloaded it, adding new features and improving existing ones. Additionally, the support team is responsive; I reached out with a question about a specific rock type, and they replied promptly with helpful information. This level of customer service enhances the overall experience and builds trust in the app.
When it comes to security and privacy, "Rock Identifier: Stone ID" takes user concerns seriously. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. Upon installation, I was pleased to find that the app does not require excessive personal data for registration. A simple email address sufficed, which is a relief for users wary of sharing too much information.
Moreover, the app is free from intrusive ads, which can often detract from the user experience. I did not encounter any tracking behavior that would compromise my privacy, allowing me to use the app freely without concerns about my data being sold or misused. Overall, I felt secure while using "Rock Identifier: Stone ID," making it a trustworthy companion for my geological explorations.

Nice to have an easy, quick reference for interesting rocks. The database is extensive and good. it is really fun being able to immediately identify a rock out in the field. There is an incredible wealth of information on every rock identified. The app also organizes your finds for easy access and offers a perspective on the quality of your collection. The app is understandably not always consistent in its assessment of the same rock from different angles. Overall, I am enjoying the app.

So far so good... just got the app an hour ago or so. I believe it is pretty good at the identifications. had to get a new angle on a few of them to get a different opinion of them. Got really accurate and informative. app can teach you a lot more than you thought... Even easy to understand - Beginner or seasoned O.G.s....you just might learn something new..huh???🦴☠️ Fossils, petrified, etc..Gems?

Be careful of extra charges I was charged almost $50 by this app and was denied a refund even though I didn't approve the purchase. I used this app on an old phone, and it was a good resource, not 100% accurate, but definitely has some great educational materials. But when I installed it on my new phone, I was somehow charged almost $50! I tried to get a refund and was denied. I thought it was a great tool when it was free, but I'm really disappointed that they charged me without me agreeing.

So far, I've helped the apple for at least 5 hours and I haven't been able to open it once I open the app, and I try to press continue to completely open it up to where I can scan rocks and it doesn't work so I've tried restarting my phone checking. For updates and nothing works and unfortunately, I'm sure this app is very useful for other people who can log in, but at the moment I am unable to log in, which gives it one star.

If you sign up for the free trial, it charges you instantly for the whole year of service instead of waiting until the end of the trial period. I've submitted for a refund since I didn't find the app useful and did not want to continue after trying it out. The charge literally even says "free trial" in the statement from Google play.
