Real Experience Using "Wemo"

Application Scenarios

As a busy professional, my daily routine is often hectic, and the Wemo app has become an essential part of my life. I use it primarily in the mornings when I’m getting ready for work. With a simple tap on my phone, I can turn on the coffee maker and the kitchen lights while I’m still in the shower. This not only saves me time but also ensures I start my day on the right foot. In the evenings, I love to unwind by watching TV. I’ve set up a Wemo switch for my entertainment system, allowing me to turn everything on or off with my voice through Alexa. This means I can settle down on the couch without having to get up to fumble with remotes or switches. Additionally, when I’m away on business trips, I use the remote access feature to check on my home, ensuring everything is secure and functioning as it should.

User Experience

The Wemo app boasts a clean and intuitive user interface that makes navigation a breeze. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a dashboard displaying all my connected devices, which I can control with just a few taps. The setup process was straightforward; I simply followed the on-screen instructions to connect my devices, and within minutes, I was up and running. The performance of the app has been impressive. I’ve experienced minimal lag when controlling devices, and the automation features work flawlessly. I particularly appreciate the scheduling options, which allow me to set routines that fit my lifestyle. Overall, using the Wemo app feels seamless and efficient, making my smart home experience enjoyable rather than cumbersome.

Pricing

Wemo offers a range of products at various price points, making it accessible for different budgets. The app itself is free to download and use, but the cost of Wemo devices can vary. For instance, smart plugs start around $30, while more advanced devices like smart cameras can go up to $150. Given the convenience and energy savings they provide, I find the investment worthwhile.

Updates & Support

Wemo regularly updates its app to enhance functionality and security, which is reassuring as a user. I’ve noticed improvements in device connectivity and new features added over time. The customer support is also commendable; I had a minor issue with one of my devices, and the support team was quick to respond and resolve my problem. They offer various channels for assistance, including live chat and email, making it easy to get help when needed.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using smart home technology like Wemo. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. When it comes to registration, Wemo requires basic personal information, such as an email address, to create an account. This is standard practice, but I appreciate that they don’t ask for excessive personal data, which can be a red flag for privacy concerns. Importantly, Wemo does not display ads within the app, which is a relief. I’ve also found that they are transparent about their data collection practices, stating that they do not sell user data to third parties. However, like many smart home devices, Wemo does collect usage data to improve their services, which is something to consider for privacy-conscious users. Overall, I feel secure using the Wemo app, knowing that they prioritize user privacy while providing a convenient smart home experience.

now they bricked our devices, since they closed down the wemo service after trying to be a monthly subscription... constantly disconnect from the network, logs you out, and then says your password is incorrect, ask to send you password, it will never arrive, try to create account with the same email it tells you it already exists. Switching to kasa wifi plugs are better, faster and cheaper, a 4 pack for $22. You're welcome.

Lights constantly disconnects but now I can't even open the app. i It just says "connected to wifi" and then does nothing. I've had lights turn off because the switch disconnected, and apparently, that means the light should shut off and then not be able to turn back on even with physically using the switch. If my house didn't come with wemo light switches in it, I'd be so much happier because I could have lights that function.

I've had nothing but trouble with the Belkin Wemo Light Switch and app. The devices constantly disconnect from the network, even when all other smart devices in my home are working perfectly. Reconnecting them is an exercise in frustration. To make matters worse, they refuse to link up with Google Home. Despite following every troubleshooting guide and even resetting the devices multiple times, integration never succeeds. I wouldn’t recommend Wemo as a dependable smart home solution.

Should be removed from the Play Store, because it is no longer supported. As of early 2026, you can download and install but won't be able to create an account so it's useless. This also means that WeMo devices no longer work with things like Alexa. Mine still has some kind of ghost command that still turns it on automatically, but it has to be turned off manually. And who knows how long the ghost command will last? Apparently some third-party apps may still work-- if you want to bother.

Bought a 2 pack of sockets to control lamps when I'm not home. You can't do that:) Wemo only works when you're Bluetooth distance from the socket. It also performed very stubbornly, spent too many times resetting it. Wemos are too much trouble, no need for them. if I'm in the same room already I can hit the switch myself. Wemo gives calling from the living room to the kitchen energy, with bad reception and hardware bugs.
