4.6 WiZ (legacy) is a smart lighting app that brings convenience and control to your fingertips. With its user-friendly interface and robust features, it allows you to manage your lighting system effortlessly. Here are some of the core features that make WiZ stand out:
As someone who thrives on convenience, I found myself using the WiZ (legacy) app in various scenarios throughout my day. One of my favorite uses is during my morning routine. I have programmed my bedroom lights to gradually brighten at 7 AM, simulating a natural sunrise. This gentle wake-up call makes getting out of bed much easier. Additionally, when I host friends for movie nights, I create a cozy atmosphere by dimming the living room lights and setting a warm hue, all done through the app without leaving my seat. Even when I’m away on vacation, I can turn the lights on and off to give the illusion that someone is home, enhancing my security.
The user interface of the WiZ (legacy) app is intuitive and visually appealing. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean dashboard that displays all my connected lights. Navigating through the app is seamless; I can easily access different rooms and adjust settings with just a few taps. The performance is impressive, with minimal lag when switching between features. I particularly appreciate the scene creation tool, which allows me to customize lighting for various activities. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive; the app has made managing my home lighting not just easier but also more enjoyable.
WiZ (legacy) offers a free version that provides access to most of its essential features. However, for users looking for advanced functionalities, there is a premium subscription available. The pricing is reasonable, especially considering the convenience and energy savings the app provides. I find that the investment is well worth it, given the enhanced control over my home lighting.
The developers of WiZ (legacy) are proactive in providing updates, ensuring that the app remains compatible with the latest devices and operating systems. I’ve noticed regular improvements and new features being added, which keeps the app fresh and functional. Customer support is also commendable; I reached out with a query about a feature, and the response was prompt and helpful. It’s reassuring to know that assistance is readily available when needed.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using smart home applications like WiZ (legacy). The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, but I appreciated that the app clearly outlines its privacy policy, detailing how my data is used and protected.
One concern I had was regarding ads and tracking behavior. Fortunately, WiZ (legacy) does not bombard users with ads, which enhances the overall experience. The app does collect usage data to improve functionality, but it is done in a way that respects user privacy. Overall, I feel secure using WiZ (legacy), knowing that my personal information is handled responsibly.

I've had this app for years in multiple homes I've lived in, it's awful. Every single day I have go through the process of reconnecting the lights because they just suddenly dont work. I go through all steps, ensure they're on a 2.4 connection, but every single day it does this. I wake up in the morning spending 5-10 minutes reconnecting every light, and come home late from work not able to turn on my lights because "oh you need to check your wifi". It's 2024, we can't figure out wifi connection

Complete horror show to set up. I used this app years ago and it's no better now. Been at it for over an hour now and can't get one light connected. Smart pairing never works, manual pairing will connect one light and then can't control that light as soon as you connect a second. I remember it working pretty well previously if you had the patience to set it up. Can't find the lights, can't connect to the wifi, just one issue after another.

Used for one day, created a room with two lights in it, only one worked in the schedule that was built. Needed two more lights, added them, no wait, tried adding them but the app won't let me in. Have uninstalled and re installed 3 times, only gives me an option to create a home or join a home, neither works with no other option, at a loss at this point.

Update: I deleted & readded my lights and did a firmware update which worked for about 2 days, now it's back to "this light is unavailable". Loved these lightbulbs, just wish they worked. Every time I want to turn on or change my lights I have to close and reopen the app several times, or turn off and on the lights manually, change what WiFi I'm connected to, and even then it sometimes doesn't work. Its always been a little buggy but lately it's been completely unreliable.

The app itself is easy to use. The problem is it doesn't work 90% of the time. the lights are supposedly connected but unresponsive, then they disconnect & refuse to connect again & support is minimal. "let me tell you the same 3 steps repeatedly & refuse to acknowledge that they're not working" They call it a chat but it's not like you're connected with someone who answers in a reasonable timeframe, you will wait for hours. The app doesn't even give notifications when they do answer. -10/10
