2.8 The "Yi Home" app is a powerful tool designed to enhance your home security experience. With its user-friendly interface and robust features, it allows you to monitor your home from anywhere. Here are some of the core features that make "Yi Home" stand out:
My journey with the "Yi Home" app began when I decided to enhance my home security system. I installed a couple of Yi cameras around my house, and the app quickly became an integral part of my daily routine. Every morning, I check the live feed while sipping my coffee, ensuring everything is in order before I head out for the day. On weekends, I often use the app to monitor my backyard while hosting friends, making sure everything is secure while we enjoy our time outdoors. The two-way audio feature has also come in handy when I need to communicate with my kids while they’re playing in the yard, allowing me to keep an eye on them without being intrusive.
The user interface of the "Yi Home" app is intuitive and easy to navigate. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that displays all my connected cameras. The workflow is seamless; I can switch between different camera feeds with just a tap. The video quality is impressive, with clear images even in low light. I’ve experienced minimal lag when accessing live feeds, which is crucial for real-time monitoring. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive. It feels reliable and responsive, making me feel secure in my home monitoring efforts.
The "Yi Home" app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for budget-conscious users. However, if you want to take full advantage of the cloud storage options, there are subscription plans available. These plans are reasonably priced, offering various tiers depending on your storage needs. I found the pricing to be fair, especially considering the peace of mind it provides.
Yi Technology regularly updates the app, introducing new features and improvements based on user feedback. I’ve noticed enhancements in video quality and additional functionalities that have made my experience even better. Customer support is also commendable; I reached out once with a query about setting up my cameras, and the response was prompt and helpful. It’s reassuring to know that the company is committed to improving user experience and addressing concerns.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to home monitoring apps like "Yi Home." The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring a level of credibility and safety. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, which is standard for most apps. However, I appreciate that the app offers options to enhance privacy settings, allowing me to control who can access my camera feeds.
One concern I had was regarding ads and tracking behavior. Fortunately, "Yi Home" does not bombard users with intrusive ads, which is a relief. The app does collect some data for functionality and improvement purposes, but I found their privacy policy to be transparent, outlining how my data is used and protected. Overall, I feel secure using the "Yi Home" app, knowing that my privacy is respected while I enjoy the benefits of enhanced home security.

Not worth the purchase! They used to be a regular indoor camera option to choose from many, now they are a money hungry cash grabbing company. Adds are ridiculous on the app, very invasive and now they want to force a subscription for you to be able to use the most basic features, even imposing a limit timer of viewing if you are using it unsubscribed, more like buying a mirror and paying to see your own reflection. Very disapointed, sending it to the trash for any other less predatory option.

it's okay, not great. Miss a lot no matter the setting. Video quality is great. Constantly tries to get me to buy a subscription even though I have one, updates constantly (at least three times a week) & while it waits for $/update it won't record motions. Like holding a hostage for $ &/or update. Get random bird flying by, but miss package drop offs I set it up for, & my mechanic taking my vehicle from my driveway. My car is there, my car is gone, nothing in between. Make it make sense.

12/20/23: As others have said... I've used Yi for years, generally happy with it. Now, full screen ads on startup. Do not offer me a discount on an ad-free subscription. I'm not getting it. Update 1/31/25: Wow, they're really hitting the startup ads hard. Update 5/2/25: I'm moving on to a different product. The inundation of ads is not worth the quality of this product.

Not sure what happened with this last update but I have lost the ability to see live feed. I haven't signed up with your service as I don't need that, but I was able to see the live feed. Now it says it can't connect to the network, but everything else in my house is able too. I've restarted it, deleted app and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I'm about to give up on them and just get a Blink indoor camera(to go with my outdoor cameras(

It is alright for the first month but then if you don't pay their monthly subscription you have to watch advertisement after advertisement. You hear something outside and want to check to see what it is you have to watch a 60 second ad before you can view the camera. Recently they added ads between switching cameras so you have to watch multiple ads just to view the live feed and ads pop up all over the app, sometimes in the app I will get a pop-up saying my phone is infected with a virus.....
