4.5 As a frequent traveler for both work and leisure, the Air Canada + Aeroplan app has become an essential tool in my daily life. Just last month, I had to book a last-minute flight to attend a business meeting in Calgary. With the app, I was able to search for available flights, compare prices, and book my ticket in under ten minutes. The ability to filter results by departure time and price made the process incredibly efficient.
Another scenario where the app shines is during my travels. While waiting at the airport, I often use the app to check my flight status and receive updates. On one occasion, my flight was delayed, and I received a notification through the app before the announcement was made at the gate. This allowed me to adjust my plans and grab a bite to eat instead of waiting anxiously at the gate.
The user interface of the Air Canada + Aeroplan app is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. The main menu is well-organized, allowing me to access flight bookings, Aeroplan points, and travel recommendations with just a few taps. The workflow for booking a flight is straightforward; I simply enter my travel details, and the app presents me with a list of options that I can filter based on my preferences.
Performance-wise, the app is responsive and rarely crashes, which is a significant plus when I’m in a hurry. I appreciate the quick loading times, especially when I’m checking my flight status or redeeming Aeroplan points. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive, and it has made my travel planning much more manageable.
The Air Canada + Aeroplan app is free to download and use, which is a fantastic benefit for travelers. While there are costs associated with booking flights and redeeming Aeroplan points, the app itself does not require any subscription fees. This makes it accessible for anyone looking to streamline their travel experience without breaking the bank.
Air Canada regularly updates the app to enhance its functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed improvements in the booking process and the addition of new features, such as personalized travel recommendations. Customer support is also readily available through the app, with options to chat or call for assistance. I had a minor issue with my Aeroplan points, and the support team was quick to respond and resolve my concern, which left me feeling valued as a customer.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that handles personal and financial information. The Air Canada + Aeroplan app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my name, email address, and phone number, which is standard for travel apps.
One aspect that I appreciate is the app's transparency regarding data usage. There are no intrusive ads, and I have not noticed any excessive tracking behavior. The app does track my travel preferences to provide personalized recommendations, but this is done with my consent and can be managed in the settings. Overall, I feel confident using the Air Canada + Aeroplan app, knowing that my data is handled securely and responsibly.

App didn't remember my passport or traveler number from my last flight. It also didn't know my aeroplan number despite that being tied to the account I had to make to even sign in to the app. I eventually figured out I had to add this information to my account profile, but it wasn't obvious this was needed. A prompt to add it if I enter the info to check in and it's missing from my profile would be a good addition.

I admit that my phone is old. It is a Motorola One 5G Ace. However, before the December update it worked fine with this app. I saw the issue was due to the app assuming some android phones were tablets, and it was resolved for some of them. I reached out to their help desk via email weeks ago and have heard nothing back. It is disappointing that I can no longer use the app for my upcoming travels, especially considering Air Canada's app is the only one taking issue with my phone.

Air Canada is just terrible in general. Suppose you booked a flight, but you're stuck in limbo ("A problem occurred with your session but a request was sent to create your booking. To verify that your booking is confirmed, call Air Canada Reservations"). So you think maybe I can cancel this reservation for the app. Your heart soars when the app can find the reservation. But no, you can't cancel the reservation from the app. And the wait time is 3 hours when you try to call. Avoid Air Canada.

The app doesn't let you log in without installing a browser that I don't want or need. I use Firefox nightly and it expects me to install the regular Firefox. Why you can't log in with any browser, or even just log into the app directly like every single other app ever written, is a mystery. Either way, it's impossible to actually log into the app and therefore completely useless.

Terribly clunky, difficult to sign into, so many security pages, not streamlined. I was forced to do the process over and over b/c they kept sending different verification codes; if you click verify in the email, it doesn't verify, it opens a new web page that starts the process all over again. (To top it all off, their customer service is terrible! I've been on hold now for 45min. in a foreign country. selecting for a call back doesn't help, was still on hold for 18min before a person ans'd.)
