4.6 The "Daily News: Local & Alerts" app is a powerful tool for anyone looking to stay informed about their local community and beyond. With its user-friendly interface and robust features, it has quickly become my go-to source for news. Here are some of the standout features that make this app a must-have:
As a busy professional, I often find myself juggling multiple responsibilities, and staying updated with the news can be a challenge. I typically start my day with a cup of coffee, and that’s when I open the "Daily News: Local & Alerts" app. It’s my ritual to scroll through the headlines while enjoying my morning brew. The app’s personalized alerts keep me informed about local events and breaking news that directly impact my community.
During my commute, I appreciate the app’s real-time updates. For example, when a major traffic incident occurred last week, I received an alert that helped me choose an alternative route, saving me time and frustration. Additionally, I use the app to catch up on local sports scores and updates, especially during the football season when my favorite team is playing.
The user interface of "Daily News: Local & Alerts" is one of its strongest points. The layout is clean and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through various news categories. I particularly enjoy the way articles are presented; they are well-organized and visually appealing, which enhances my reading experience. The app loads quickly, and I have not encountered any significant lag or crashes, which is a huge plus for me.
Feature workflows are seamless. For instance, setting up personalized alerts took just a few minutes, and I was able to customize them based on my interests. The app also allows me to bookmark articles for later reading, which I find incredibly useful when I come across something intriguing but don’t have time to read it immediately. Overall, my experience with the app has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel more connected to my community as a result.
The "Daily News: Local & Alerts" app is free to download and use, which is fantastic for anyone looking to stay informed without breaking the bank. While there are some premium features available for a subscription fee, the free version offers a wealth of information that is more than sufficient for most users. I appreciate that I can access local news and alerts without any financial commitment.
The app is regularly updated, which is crucial for maintaining its performance and security. I’ve noticed improvements in loading times and new features being added, which keeps the experience fresh. Customer support is also commendable; I had a minor issue with notifications, and the support team responded promptly and resolved my concern efficiently. This level of support gives me confidence in the app’s reliability.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, and "Daily News: Local & Alerts" takes these concerns seriously. The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. During the registration process, I was only required to provide minimal personal information, which I appreciated. This approach respects user privacy while still allowing for a personalized experience.
Regarding ads and tracking behavior, the app does display advertisements, but they are not overly intrusive. I have not noticed any excessive tracking or data collection beyond what is necessary for functionality. Overall, I feel secure using the app, knowing that my personal data is handled responsibly.

There's always one problem or another with this app. The most frequent problem is that my posted comments seem to not really get posted, as if I'm the only person on the planet who can see them. Being someone who uses & posts on Newsbreak almost every day for the past couple of years, I know that it's not working right when this happens. And out of all the emails I've sent to the app developers about it, guess how many replies I've gotten....yup that's right, zero.

Gets the job done, barely. It will send you a ton of articles. I mean a ton, and it's not easy to set preferences. If you do set some, it will send you anything even remotely similar. Then you have the click bait and the ads. Almost every article will take ages to get to the point if at all, while there are a ton of ads. Almost not worth it to have the app.

I have NewsBreak for the crime reports. I kept getting these intrusive news articles while my phone was LOCKED. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. turns out they're ads from this app. Where do you get off giving ads when I'm not in the app and my phone is locked. I restricted background battery usage to stop it while I'm not using it. Hopefully that stops it. If it doesn't, I'm deleting the app. Edit: It didn't work. It's almost like it has increased since my review. I'm out. ✌️

love the news but I get flooded with notifications. way way too many. if I hit unsubscribe they still come. I turn off notifications in settings but they still come. it says to go to manage subscriptions but can't find that anywhere. things should be simple in life. Not frustrating. next it will have to be uninstalled.aybe they will get the message then.

Ads have gotten out of control. I receive multiple ads that are basically a black screen saying "Click here to update" on an attempt to trick someone into clicking on them. Also, some ads have fake "click here to close" buttons. I understand the need for ads, but they need to not be intentionally deceptive, or the app is not worth the effort.
