Long time digital subscriber, and usually happy with the app - til now. Latest update made the homepage "Today" news section take 30 seconds to a solid minute to load/refresh, and since much of the time I'm in a hurry and just trying to catch latest headlines this is very annoying. The absolute slowest news app I use, which shouldn't be the case with a paying digital subscription.

App is getting worse and worse. Now half the time the comments to an article won't open. But the biggest problem is the auto-crashing, which happens daily now. Every time the home page refreshes, I'm taken out of whatever article I'm reading and placed back on the home page. Also, how about giving the app the capacity to remember where you are in an article, so if you have to pause for a few minutes, you don't lose your place and get sent back to the start of the article?

This app is being consistently made worse, despite frequent price hikes. I pay for access, yet still have to scroll through constant ads. I click the comment section of an article, and a scrolling/animated ad immediately appears urging me to "explore more conversations." uhh no thanks, can I just explore the one I clicked on? Geez, it's so obnoxious and anti-user.

Oh, the app itself is ok I guess. This app sends me a lot of notifications, mostly for stories I can't seem to read due to not having a subscription... clicking on the notifications takes me to the app's homepage where I never see the stories from the notification. So, if you have a subscription this is probably a great app for news and whatnot. But if you're like me, who just wants to read news without spending money you don't have, maybe Goog News for all its flaws is still a better option.

Lost my longest streak ever playing a game because the app crashed when I was playing late at night. By the time it was back up it was past midnight. This app crashes a lot, especially when reading articles. It also seems to be my #1 most battery draining app even though I don't use it more than 30 minutes a day (often much less). Not the best work NYT.
