3.7 FlightAware Flight Tracker is a powerful tool for anyone who wants to stay updated on flight statuses, whether you're a frequent traveler, an aviation enthusiast, or simply someone waiting for a loved one to arrive. Here are some of the standout features that make this app a must-have:
As someone who travels frequently for both work and leisure, I find myself reaching for the FlightAware Flight Tracker app more often than I can count. One of the most memorable instances was during a business trip to San Francisco. I had a tight schedule, and my flight was delayed due to weather conditions. Thanks to the real-time tracking feature, I was able to receive updates directly on my phone, which allowed me to adjust my plans and inform my colleagues about my arrival time. Another scenario was when I was picking up my sister from the airport. Instead of waiting aimlessly, I used the flight status alerts to know exactly when her plane was landing, making the whole experience much smoother.
The user interface of FlightAware Flight Tracker is intuitive and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made navigation a breeze. The main dashboard displays a search bar at the top, allowing me to quickly look up flights by flight number or route. The workflow is seamless; I can easily switch between tracking flights, checking airport information, and viewing historical data without any hiccups. Performance-wise, the app is responsive and loads quickly, even during peak travel times. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, as the app has consistently provided me with accurate information and timely updates, making my travel planning much less stressful.
FlightAware Flight Tracker is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for budget-conscious travelers. While the app does offer a premium subscription for additional features, the free version is robust enough for most users. I’ve found that the free version meets all my needs, from tracking flights to receiving alerts, making it an excellent value for anyone looking to stay informed about air travel.
The developers of FlightAware are committed to keeping the app updated with the latest features and improvements. I’ve noticed regular updates that enhance functionality and fix any bugs. Additionally, the support team is responsive and helpful. I once had a question about a feature, and I received a prompt reply via email, which reassured me that they value user feedback and are dedicated to improving the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are always top of mind when using apps, especially those that require personal data. FlightAware Flight Tracker is available on both the App Store and Google Play, which adds a layer of credibility. The app does require registration, but I appreciate that it only asks for essential information, minimizing the amount of personal data shared. I have not encountered any intrusive ads or excessive tracking behavior while using the app, which is a significant plus. Overall, I feel secure using FlightAware, knowing that my data is handled responsibly and that my privacy is respected.

I have been using Flight Aware for a few months to track performance on the flights I will be taking soon. I rely on emails. Two days ago I stopped receiving their emails. My server is not blocking it. I deleted and set up a new account. Still nothing. Their account management page seems to change my notice preferences every time. I am done with them.

It seems to be a great app at first, paid to remove ads. Unfortunately when i was trying to register as new user. I kept getting the same generic error message, saying 'the username name is unavailable'. I have tried multiple options, and still getting the same result. At least tell me what went wrong in error message, so that I can fix it. Very frustrating for app I just paid for. And without login to the app, I can't even use 'flight alert'. Think twice if you're getting this app.

Good for free, some bugs. Two main ones I experienced are 1. In the Android app, if you change an alert to be for only one day, the summary still shows that it is alerting you indefinitely. 2. In the website, you can say how much of a heads-up you need on a flight. The default is 45 minutes, and you can change it, but if you "edit" again in order to see if your change stuck, it still shows 45 minutes.

Barely has information I need - not all information I'd like. Tends to freeze during flight tracking. Rarely do I prefer the desktop version but in this case I do. ----------------- OK, 2 years later ... web version of FlightAware is still a better choice. Quicker, more informative ... and doesn't use system resources when not in use. Not sorry, still barely 2 stars.

App is generally functional; however, when viewing any given aircraft on the map, the position does not continuously update as it does in a web browser. In order to get an updated position, you have to refresh the page, usually multiple times. Also, whenever you select a flight, the map starts zoomed way out so you can see North and South America, instead of showing a more localized view of the aircraft and route.
