4.7 Rover - Dog Boarding & Walking is a comprehensive app designed for pet owners who want to ensure their furry friends are well taken care of while they are away. With a user-friendly interface and a variety of services, Rover stands out in the pet care industry. Here are some of its core features:
As a busy professional and a dog owner, I often find myself in situations where I need reliable pet care. One of the most memorable experiences I had with Rover was when I had to attend a weekend conference. I was anxious about leaving my dog, Max, alone for two days. I quickly opened the Rover app, browsed through local sitters, and found a perfect match. The sitter had excellent reviews and even specialized in caring for high-energy breeds like Max. I booked the service, and within a few minutes, I had peace of mind knowing Max would be well taken care of.
Another scenario was when I had a last-minute dinner plan with friends. I needed someone to walk Max while I was out. I opened the app, found a walker who was available, and booked the service in just a few taps. The walker arrived on time, and I received updates and photos during their walk, which made my night out even more enjoyable.
The user interface of the Rover app is intuitive and easy to navigate. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a clean layout that made it simple to find services. The search function allows you to filter sitters based on your specific needs, such as location, availability, and services offered. I appreciated the detailed profiles of each sitter, which included their experience, reviews, and photos of their own pets.
Booking a service is straightforward. After selecting a sitter, I could easily communicate my requirements and preferences through the in-app messaging feature. The performance of the app was smooth, with no lag or crashes during my usage. Overall, my experience with Rover has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel confident using it for all my pet care needs.
Rover's pricing is competitive and varies based on the services you choose and the sitter's experience. For dog boarding, prices typically range from $25 to $75 per night, depending on the sitter's location and qualifications. I found the rates to be reasonable, especially considering the quality of care provided. Additionally, Rover often has promotions and discounts for first-time users, which is a nice touch for those looking to try the service.
Rover frequently updates its app to enhance user experience and introduce new features. I noticed improvements in the messaging system and the addition of a video call feature, which allows you to connect with your sitter before booking. Customer support is responsive and helpful; I once had a question about a booking, and their support team addressed my concern promptly. Overall, I feel supported as a user, which adds to my confidence in the app.
As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when using any app, especially one that involves personal data and my beloved pet. Rover is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the security standards set by these platforms. During the registration process, I was required to provide basic personal information, including my name, email, and phone number, which is standard for service-based apps.
Rover takes privacy seriously and has a clear privacy policy outlining how they handle user data. I appreciate that they do not bombard users with ads, and I have not noticed any intrusive tracking behavior while using the app. The in-app messaging is secure, allowing me to communicate with sitters without sharing my personal phone number. Overall, I feel that Rover prioritizes user security and privacy, making it a trustworthy choice for pet care services.

I'm still unable to send pictures and videos to clients through the app on my google pixe from one of the updatesl. This is very frustrating when trying to adhere to client requests for photos and updates. When I click the camera icon it goes to my gallery but none of my photos show up. This has been an issue for over a few months now and no updates to fix it.

The service is great! But the app keeps getting worse, harder to use, more convolluted, there's no app feedback in-app, and not all features are available on the website. it would be better if they hadn't changed anything since 2016. they've added "stuff", filler, weird steps, mandatory fees that you can't opt out of, and can't even update more than one day at a time of my calendar beyond "available/unavailable", and even getting to editing the calendar is almost unuseable cuz of guis jumping

As a rover sitter the app has been having constant issues lately that are inconvenient for both me and my clients, aswell as a safety hazard. Walks will glitch out and delete entire records, the tracker will keep going after the walk is finished still recording anywhere I go, it won't let me send photos to support, I've had several occasions where I start the walk and it glitches half way through and restarts. update : 3 seperate reports to support and zero improvement or solutions.

The main problem I have with the app is that every field acts like a password field, meaning I cannot paste or use my swiping feature. I have to sit there and type every individual letter into the box. it takes forever. whoever developed this app needs to format the text boxes to allow copying, pasting, and normal swipe typing. it sounds like a small problem, but it took me forever to fill out the forms.

I usually don't have issues with the app, but last night a client said it skipped the tip screen, so she contacted customer service and they were unable to assist, thus no tip via Rover. The app just updated and removed further options, such as editing photos. The instructions leading to the option to make a photo private are gone. I contacted support and they say the same thing, to do this, and I can't, either in the app or browser, using Chrome. I also updated the app.
