Features & Highlights

VA Video Connect is a powerful telehealth application designed specifically for veterans, providing them with seamless access to healthcare services from the comfort of their homes. Here are some of its standout features:

  • Virtual Appointments: Schedule and attend video appointments with healthcare providers. For instance, I recently had a follow-up appointment for my mental health, and being able to connect with my therapist through a secure video call made the experience much more comfortable and convenient.
  • Secure Messaging: Communicate directly with your healthcare team through a secure messaging system. I often use this feature to ask quick questions about my prescriptions, and it’s reassuring to know that my messages are encrypted and confidential.
  • Prescription Management: Easily manage and refill prescriptions through the app. Just last week, I needed to refill my medication, and with a few taps, I was able to request a refill without having to visit the pharmacy in person.
  • Access to Health Records: View your medical history and test results at any time. This feature has been invaluable for me, especially when I need to keep track of my health metrics and share them with my doctors during appointments.
  • User-Friendly Interface: The app is designed with veterans in mind, making it easy to navigate. I appreciate how intuitive the layout is, allowing me to find what I need quickly, whether it’s scheduling an appointment or checking my health records.

Real Experience Using "VA Video Connect"

Application Scenarios

As a veteran, I often find myself juggling various health appointments and managing my prescriptions. VA Video Connect has become an essential part of my routine. For example, I recently had a scheduled appointment with my primary care physician. Instead of driving to the clinic, I simply logged into the app, and within minutes, I was in a video call with my doctor. This not only saved me time but also made it easier to discuss my health concerns in a familiar environment.

Another scenario where the app shines is during mental health check-ins. I have a therapist who I see regularly, and using VA Video Connect allows me to maintain my appointments even when I’m traveling or unable to visit in person. The ability to connect from anywhere has significantly improved my mental health management.

User Experience

The user interface of VA Video Connect is straightforward and user-friendly. Upon opening the app, I’m greeted with a clean layout that makes navigation a breeze. Scheduling an appointment is as simple as clicking a button and selecting a time that works for me. The video quality during calls is impressive, with minimal lag, which is crucial for effective communication with my healthcare providers.

One of the standout features is the secure messaging system. I can send messages to my healthcare team without worrying about privacy issues. The app notifies me when I receive a response, ensuring I stay informed about my health. Overall, my experience with VA Video Connect has been overwhelmingly positive, and I feel more connected to my healthcare team than ever before.

Pricing

VA Video Connect is completely free for veterans, which is a significant advantage. There are no hidden fees or subscription costs, making it accessible for all veterans who need healthcare services. This affordability allows me to focus on my health without the added stress of financial burdens.

Updates & Support

The app is regularly updated to improve functionality and user experience. I’ve noticed enhancements in video quality and additional features that make the app even more user-friendly. The support team is also responsive; I had a minor issue with logging in once, and their customer service was quick to assist me, ensuring I could access my appointments without delay.

Security & Privacy Review

As an American user, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to healthcare apps. VA Video Connect is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. During the registration process, I was required to provide personal information, including my name, date of birth, and VA identification number. This information is essential for verifying my identity and ensuring that my health records are secure.

Importantly, VA Video Connect does not display ads or engage in tracking behavior that could compromise my privacy. The app prioritizes user confidentiality, employing encryption to protect my messages and video calls. Knowing that my sensitive health information is secure allows me to use the app with confidence, making it a reliable tool for managing my healthcare needs.

So here's the issue. It works fine when in the process of making calls. After leaving a call, my microphone will no longer be usable, period. Not for Google assistant, nor for calls or anything. My microphone is completely disabled. I even tried changing settings in my phone, or force closing this app, it did not work. I have to restart my device to get my microphone to work again. I have a bad memory, so I may forget, and then when I make or receive an important call, nobody can hear me.

I've used video connect a number of times now and like it. the connection always is good and stable. the video and sound are clear. with the advent of AI subtitles would be a nice feature and being able to get a transcript of the appointment would be so helpful but probably unrealistic. that said it's a great way to have your appointment if you cannot be there in person. Recommended!

I've tried this app on multiple different devices for several different appointments...I can hear my provider but they can never hear me. I've checked my settings on all the devices (cell phone app, tablet, computer) and it still never works. I'm a tech savvy person and have tried connected to different networks. Have had all telehealth appointments scheduled for in person from now on. The WORST APP EVER!!!

Works pretty well. If you're using any Bluetooth devices like key boards or a mouse that go to sleep on you, it does cause a disconnect from your session. It does reconnect easily though. Audio issue: for some reason it wont stream through my hearing aids like my music and system sounds do. Most apps with audio stream without issue. So far this app and my voicemail app are the only ones that just don't work that way. Not a problem using the speaker phone audio though.

I cannot participate in online groups as the instructor always mutes me. I'm told there is an echo on my line. I've tried four different devices. Eventually one will work if I log out and keep trying others. It doesn't make any sense because the device that works varies from week to week. I have yet to have the same device work without an echo on two consecutive weeks. I've tried an android phone, an iPhone, a laptop, and a tablet. Figure that one out???
