4.0 Epic: Kids' Books & Reading is a treasure trove for young readers, offering a plethora of features designed to ignite a passion for reading. Here are some of the standout highlights that make this app a must-have for parents and children alike:
As a parent, I often find myself juggling various responsibilities, and finding time to encourage my child's reading can be a challenge. That's where Epic comes in. I typically use the app during our evening routine. After dinner, we settle down on the couch, and I let my child choose a book from the app. Whether it's a whimsical story about a dragon or an educational piece about the ocean, Epic provides a seamless way to engage my child in reading. Additionally, during our recent family vacation, I downloaded several books for my child to enjoy during the long flights, keeping him entertained and engaged without the need for screens.
The user interface of Epic is incredibly intuitive, making it easy for both kids and parents to navigate. The colorful design and engaging visuals immediately draw children in, while the layout is straightforward enough for them to explore independently. I appreciate how the app categorizes books by age and genre, allowing my child to discover new favorites effortlessly. The performance is smooth, with quick loading times and minimal glitches, which is crucial when you have a little one eager to dive into a new story. Overall, my experience with Epic has been overwhelmingly positive; it feels like a digital library that my child can access anytime, fostering a love for reading in a fun and interactive way.
Epic offers a free trial for new users, which is a fantastic way to explore the app's features without any commitment. After the trial, a subscription is required, which is reasonably priced considering the vast library and features available. The monthly fee is a small investment for the educational benefits and the joy it brings to my child's reading journey.
The developers of Epic are committed to enhancing the user experience, regularly rolling out updates that introduce new features and improve existing ones. I’ve noticed that they actively listen to user feedback, which is reassuring. Customer support is also readily available through the app, providing quick responses to any questions or concerns I’ve had. This level of support makes me feel confident in my choice to use Epic for my child's reading needs.
As a parent, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to apps my child uses. Epic is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. When registering, the app requires minimal personal data, which is a relief. I appreciate that it does not ask for sensitive information, making it safer for children to use.
Moreover, Epic does not display ads, which is a significant plus in my book. This means my child can read without distractions or the risk of being exposed to inappropriate content. The app also has a clear privacy policy, outlining how data is used and ensuring that user information is protected. Overall, I feel confident allowing my child to explore the world of reading through Epic, knowing that their privacy is respected and safeguarded.

I tried locking into the app and it kept saying error we cannot let you in at this time and this happened multiple times over the couple of months that I've tried to use this app and it still will not let me in. And I've also noticed that you are false advertising an app that should be free instead. I am noticing that people have to pay monthly fees just to keep reading.

This app is great! I like the variety of books available, though I hope the library continues to expand. The user interface is easy to navigate and I love being able to download for offline reading. Two things I'd like to see added are a repeat button so the littlest readers can easily replay the same book again and again. Add the ability to download the book from the non grid style list along with the available options, collection and/or favorite.

I've been using Epic! with my now 4 year old for over a year. It's awesome. There are a plethora of great books. They miss many of my absolute favorites, but the ones they have are very good and we've found new favorites. And tons of audiobooks! Those are fantastic to have. However, finding all the books in a reading level is impossible, and I very much wish that was MUCH easier. I create lists myself and have found workarounds, but it's annoying and I wish we could search by reading level only.

I Love this app! It's very fun for the kids have a list of their favorites and the "read to me" option is also good help, when I've got to help another child with their school work. Kids also get to change their profile pictures as they earn higher achievements. The only issue we've had... is that I can't seem to be able to link our already existing account, to his teachers group, with all of his classmates.

The best feature of this app by far is the appearance of the digital books, as compared with books on Amazon Freetime, which download slowly, and are hard to read until you double click the paragraphs, which is difficult to get right with a child, etc. Even the digital books on Libby are sometimes frustrating to read. Every book, audiobook, read-to-me books, and videos play seamlessly. The selection is excellent including books in Spanish! I also love that it's free to educators.
