With its engaging interface and a plethora of features, it stands out as a go-to resource for parents looking to provide their kids with quality entertainment. Here are some of the core features that make this app a must-have:
As a parent, I often find myself juggling various tasks throughout the day, and the "PBS KIDS Video" app has become a reliable companion during those moments when I need a little extra help. For example, during my morning coffee routine, I let my toddler watch a few episodes of "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood." It not only keeps them engaged but also teaches valuable life lessons. Additionally, on weekends, we use the app to explore new shows together, making it a family bonding experience as we discuss the characters and stories.
The user interface of the "PBS KIDS Video" app is incredibly intuitive. Upon opening the app, I am greeted with a colorful homepage showcasing featured shows and new episodes. The navigation is seamless, allowing my child to scroll through their favorite characters and select shows with ease. The performance is smooth, with minimal loading times, which is crucial when you have a restless toddler. Overall, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive; the app is not only entertaining but also educational, making it a win-win for both parents and kids.
The "PBS KIDS Video" app is free to download and use, which is a significant advantage for families looking for quality content without breaking the bank. While there are no subscription fees, the app does offer a variety of free content that is regularly updated, ensuring that there is always something new for my child to enjoy. This makes it an excellent resource for parents who want to provide educational entertainment without any financial commitment.
The developers of the "PBS KIDS Video" app are committed to providing a high-quality experience, as evidenced by regular updates that enhance functionality and introduce new features. I appreciate the prompt customer support available through the app, which has been helpful whenever I had questions about specific features. The support team is responsive and genuinely cares about user feedback, making me feel valued as a user.
As a parent, security and privacy are paramount when it comes to apps my child uses. The "PBS KIDS Video" app is available on both the App Store and Google Play, ensuring that it meets the necessary security standards for mobile applications. There are no registration or personal data requirements, which is a significant relief; I can let my child use the app without worrying about them sharing any personal information.
Moreover, the app is free from intrusive ads, which is a major plus in today’s digital landscape. This means my child can enjoy their favorite shows without being bombarded by advertisements or tracking behavior. Overall, I feel confident allowing my child to explore the "PBS KIDS Video" app, knowing that it prioritizes their safety and privacy.

This is a fantastic app and it's used a lot by our five year old. My only issue is the data usage. When we first started using it there was an option for lower quality video vs. HD to reduce data use when you were on your network plan. That option has been taken out (or maybe I just can't find it anymore) and the amount of data this app now uses is staggering. Make SURE you have a WIFI connection or unlimited data. Frustratingly, this app also has issues disconnecting when minimized (currently on Android KitKat, though this has been an issue for awhile now), so you can't be sure the app isn't drawing data unless you manually close it out of the tray. I still highly recommend it, but you might have to have some rules governing when it can/can't be used.

Very convenient app, but could use some work. First is the layout. Having it mandatory to use full screen doesn't make sense. Please allow portrait mode so that it's easier to cast. With that said, the casting will constantly disconnect from my phone. I just bought a Roku TV, and the app on it works a lot better than the Android version, so I guess I'll stick to that one. For those reviewing the Roku one, the Google Play store is not the avenue to do that. This is just for the Android version.

This app is wonderful and we love the content in our family. We cast to our tv and could not be happier. The only reason why this doesn't get 5 stars is because there is no way to set the app to turn off/end/stop casting at the end of an episode! It autoplays forever and I can't find any way to make it stop other than sit there and hope I can stop casting fast enough before the next episode starts and the meltdown begins. Please add the ability to turn off autoplay!!

New app is much easier to navigate. You can actually manage downloads now. And the team quickly to my user feedback and moved the live feed back up front. New issue, the episode selection menu on Android TV doesn't show the episode title when you first select a show (the playing video pushes the episode selection menu down on the page). You have to move down the page and back up to actually read the episode titles.

Update 2.2025 review: It's easy to find shows, but son likes consistency and refuses to use. It continuously auto-plays from the start of a random episode. Right now trying to download episodes, it keeps repeating the intro of Lyla when I hit back. Two biggest issues, 1. it doesn't show how long the download is good for. Episodes just disappear randomly. 2. The Live TV feature gets stuck in loading or freezes, mostly on the smart TV app, but frequently in 2 separate Android devices also.
